3. I think DU would qualify as the 101st Airborne in this particular army.
It's the one fighting machine in which I am a happy volunteer.

4. I guess I'm just frustrated seeing how often these big wig Repubs get away
with lying so much. We're the only one calling them out on it, but no one (the MSM) cares enough to want to listen or hear us out.

I know that we're making more and more inroads with each year with Air America radio, the kick ass blogs, and online news services. I guess it would be nice to get more head to head with those jerks at FOX and conservative talk radio.

I just got done watching the O'Reilly clip on Crooksandliars.com where Juan Williams is trying to call O'Lielly on his lie, and Lielly just cuts away to the other guest. It would be so nice to broadcast each and every one of Lielly's, Frists, and Bush's lies and hypocritical statements for all to see.

5. Sadly, no
What we need is a visible and credentialled Democrat to start speaking out and not yield. To enumerate all the crimes and shames and lies and betrayals and demand an explanation.

We don't have anyone who will do that, so all other efforts - no matter how noble or well-intentioned - will come to nothing. John Conyers is a very good man, but he is not the powerful kind of man who can lead this charge.

And, until and unless the American press will take this Democrat, whoever he may be, and put him and his words on the front page of their newspapers, make him the lead-off story in the news on TV every night, examine what he's saying, join in with his demands, force the "other side" to respond in ways that are substantive and meaningful, the bodies will continue to arrive at Dover under cover of darkness, we'll keep murdering Iraqis on their own soil, the housing scandal in the country will continue to expand and then melt very nicely into the new bankruptcy law (watch what happens to the housing market in October when the new laws go into effect), our poor will go without food and shelter and health care, our middle class will sink lower and lower, our infrastructure will deteriorate beyond any reparable state, and we will have shouted ourselves bloody in the vain attempt to make someone hear us.

6. Howard Dean should and HAS to be that man.
He can not stay away from this. Demand he lead the challenge and take the official STAKE to the core!!!!!!!

He is the DNC chairman and therefore has a job to do, for everybody and right NOW! http://www.democrats.org/

8. He lacks the credentials
No, Dean's not got the weight nor the experience. Governor of Vermont isn't a heavy enough job to give him what this would need.

And being a failed Presidential wannabe isn't a powerful platform.

I honestly don't know who might do it - I can envision someone like Jay Rockefeller starting off quietly, but staying with it and bringing it home.

Dean's really a rookie.

11. Yeah....But at least he fights the hard fight.
What about Senator Harry Reid?

He mentioned it briefly- Maybe we only need to throw him into absolute tizzy, and he'll start shouting it from the rooftops!!!!

13. I admire Dean, don't get me wrong
I love his fight and his passion, but I wish he'd focus more and keep himself out of the line of fire, keep the issues there instead. I think he'll learn.

Harry Reid's a good one, but lacks the stature. He's also stuck in the Minority Leader job, so he's not really free of the links that would allow people to say "Well, of course he's gonna say that - it's his job."

Patrick Leahy, Jay Rockefeller, maybe Dick Durbin has started his own path. Maybe it'll be Durbin. But, this has to be insistent and unyielding, a constant and consistently powerful condemnation that does not let up.

It takes someone like a savior, it pains me to say. That's what I think.

12. Or a reformed high level republican.
That would also play well. You should break these ideas out into a second thread. It's interesting to consider who would make the cut.

14. Ohhhhhhh, yes, indeed
That's even better.

Richard Lugar?

The Whore McCain? (That was a joke, really)

Feel free to throw up a thread on this. If you do, PM me the link, please, since we're out of here for the night.

Thanks.

9. Our biggest weapon
is abandonned truth and eloquent expression in its cause. The spreading of that precious commodity suffers under the dingity of non commercial propagation- slow open to sudied money attacks all along the way and suffering under the din of big lies.

Honorable, but the bodies are piling up as it makes its inexorable way. Also the truth simply is. Defending the truth is the accomplishment that needs a lot of work or it might just lie in the ditch where the MSM threw it. Don't ever take that advantage for granted as i think some progressives do. It needs better service but not the false clothing of lies that tarnish its surface.

16. The RW attack machine had a 30 year head start
and they have a massive funding advantage & an impressive infrastructure built up from money from the likes of Scaife, the Walton Family, Rupert Murdoch, the Olin Foundation, the Bradley Foundation, etc. They've funded $2.5 to $3.5 billion towards RW causes & think tanks over those 30 years.

Our "attack machine" got into gear when MoveOn was formed, but we're still way, way behind. We need 20 George Soros' out there & we need to harness the creative powers of Hollywood & prominent left wingers...
