Are the MSM "news" shows really turning?
I still won't watch televised news, but my sister has been watching it, and she just called me to say they are all ripping the White House a new one. Loudly.

Is it really happening at last, or are they still trying to spin one for the Regime?

8. Lou Dobbs ran with it as first story...
CBS had it live for a bit. No doubt Keith will cover it. But I know who was there and they were ALL there... all the papers, all of the networks, Fox a no show. Watch for papers tomorrow, you will see. The local affiliates are still picking noses. The fact that AP ran with it now is HUGE.

Trust me, this is making noise. I have been talking to people in the room covering it all day, this is making noise. I wish I could have been there, but my body hates me. Just trust me on this.

3. Fox is reporting it on their website (link)
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 05:54 PM by evermind
I have to say, it is, for Fox at least, quite close to a "fair and balanced" story - sure, it doesn't quote "fixed", and it has a non-rebuttal rebuttal from Scotty, but ... not bad!

Edit: closed -> close
Other edit: actually it does quote "fixed". Oops!

4. They can't do that because the bloggers have made them obsolete.
If the corporate media and their stupid bosses do not wake up, and press full coverage on the vicious lies and deceit especially covering the Hearings........

They will be non-salvageable....They need to wake the hell up and cover everything, or they will keep the shadow running and go down with this disgusting group of fascists!!!

6. the "problem" is this...
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 05:58 PM by SoCalDem
It's TOO LATE to be of any consequence. The "selection" was in November, and the next election is not until next year, so they can afford to be "gutsy" now.. since it really doesn't matter.

No one's gonna impeach anyone..republicans will eventually get their way... *² will serve out his entire term, and the history books are getting a "pruning" as we sit here.. *² will be portrayed as a "bold young macho-man who saved the world".:puke:..

The vapor-vote machines will continue to provide us with "squeaker elections" that pretend a 50-50 split, but always seem to break for republicans..

Eventually people will bore of it all, and just adapt to the barcodes on their foreheads, and the iris scans to fill their gas tanks.. :sarcasm:

10. Shrubbie's poll numbers are plummetting
He has a 34-39% approval rating, 25% on Social Security. The same rabid right that tried to impeach Clinton are the die hard supporters by the looks of it.

12. I haven't seen to make a judgement
since I don't watch the news either. I mostly like to read it myself so I can make a judgement etc. Anyways, I do think things are changing and we'll be seeing it. I think it's all about the money. Just like with Murdoch. If all the news networks and shows are tearing the White House a new one then I think this could go faster. If more rightwing politicans are seeing this they won't want to lose their seats either in 2006. So it'll be interesting what we see next.

15. That'll be the day!
The only way to fix broadcasting and cable is to break up the oligopoly with ownership limitations and re-regulate those parasites with a strong Fairness Doctrine and limits on commerical advertising time (like we had for the 50 years before Reagan, the Republicans AND Bill Clinton decided that there should be no accountibility on the airwaves).

Anything short of that is essentially a waste of time.
