Hostettler amendment prevents use of fed. funds to remove 10 commandments.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-The office of Rep. John Hostettler announced Wednesday the passing of an amendment to a House bill authored by the Indiana congressman that would prevent federal funds from being used to remove of the Ten Commandments monument from the lawn of the Gibson County Courthouse.

Hostettler's amendment prohibits any federal funds in the bill from being used to enforce a federal district court's Jan. 31 decision that the monument must be removed.

In a statement on the floor of the House advocating the amendment, Hostettler said the decision by Judge Richard Young in the case of Russelburg v. Gibson County, in the Southern District of Court of Indiana, was "inconsistent with both the clear intent of the framers and the Christian heritage of the United States, which was recounted by the Supreme Court in 1892."

"This legislation is where we fund any executive agency that would enforce the Southern District Court of Indiana's judgment in this case," he continued. "My amendment would prevent any funds within that act from being used to enforce the erroneous decision in Russelburg v. Gibson County. I ask my colleagues to support the amendment."

Oh, by the way, the amendment passed 242-182. So much for the rule of law.

3. Christian Heritage?
Did anyone clear this one with those Indian reservations that contribute millions to the Repugnicans?

Uh, sorry, Representative...or whatever you are...you just can't legislate away a ruling of a federal judge. Nope. And I doubt the SCOTUS would touch this thing right now...so it reverts back to the last ruling...and if he wants to legislate over this he's gonna need to revise the Constitution. Good luck.

But, hey, it's sure gonna get a lot of donations from them Fogies On Your Family folks.

Crazy thing is I smell a Rove plant here...a new non-issue. Forcing Federal troops to Indiana to remove the 10 commandments. I'm sure this is being run past the focus groups right now...

4. Hostettler is a bat shit crazy fundamentalist.
He trots out unconstitutional amendments all the time that the fundies around here eat it up. He's the one who proposed an amendment a few months ago that would have kept federal courts from ruling on Ten Commandments cases. He has also written letters to * to try to get him to not enforce court rulings on Ten Commandments cases.

He has absolutely no respect for the rule of law if it goes against his dominionist ideology.

5. He has an interesting take on breast cancer, too.
Got ahold of some twisted fundy "Science Study" that said women who have had abortions have breast cancer more.

So when he was visited by a group of Cancer Survivors, he asked them "Don'tcha wish you hadn't of killed your babies iffn' you knew you was gonna get cancer?"

And the dumb-ass tried to carry a handgun onto an airliner. "Whoops! Wrong briefcase! My Bad!" He pled to a MISDEMEANOR, and almost had his probation revoked for not paying the court costs on time, but the judge bent the rules like a gummi stick to give his mouthpiece enough time to get a check to the Clerk of the Court.
