Conyers DSM Hearings on C-SPAN 3?
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 12:26 PM by Stephanie

Why? I don't even get C-Span 3. Just received this in email from Mark Crispin Miller - these are the reports he's getting from people who called in to C-Span. >

============

From Jonathan:

Just got the rudest woman on the C-Span main line. Asked if they'd cover the Conyers' hearings, she said on C-Span 3 today and then on C-Span 2 tomorrow night, or something. I then asked why they couldn't carry it on C-Span 1 live while it was happening as that was the beauty of a channel like C-Span, to see our Government in action and she said -- get this -- that the Conyers' hearings weren't news and was not our Government in action.

Click.

Will be calling back to make the case to have it live and suggest, if you're able to, to do so as well.

From Pat:

My experience:

I called the 202 C-Span number and was told very abruptly that they are replaying it again tomorrow night at 8pm. I said, "Ok, you are playing it again on a Friday night at 8 o'clock when everyone is out. I'd llike you to cover him much better than that.". I got an abrupt, "ok'.

I hope you all will call.

From Lilibet:

Hi Mark -
I just called CSpan and they are airing it today at 2:00 ES Time on CSpan 3 If you don't have CSpan 3, they are re-airing it at 8:00pm tomorrow night on CSpan 2.

I'm not sure what I have but maybe you should direct people to ask for it to be aired on CSpan 1?

6. It will repeat TOMORROW at 8:00
It will be on C Span or C Span 2 Friday night, 8 Eastern, 7 Central.

From John Conyers' blog - http://www.conyersblog.us/archives/00000139.htm :

"For those commenters who were concerned (or hoping) that there would be a media blackout of the forum, that will not be the case. I have every major network, other than Fox, bringing cameras to the hearing. Nightline is taping the event, which I think represents a welcome development from a well respected investigative program. In addition, C-Span 3 and Radio Pacifica are carrying it live."

Pressure! Make them understand they continue to compromise their credibility. Ensure they grasp it is not without future repercussions.

12. It is "a public service of your cable companies"!
Does that help bring their motives into focus?

14. C-SPAN3 is on digital cable
In my area at least, C-SPAN3 is available on Time Warner Digital Cable. I don't have it, so I'll have to watch on the computer.

11. The Conyers hearing is not news??? and it's not our government in action??
:wtf: WELL, I guess that tells us where C-SPAN stands on this issue! C-SPAN 3 was a fucking BONE to shut us up! They couldn't just ignore the THOUSANDS of emails and phone calls so they threw us this damn dry bone! The ONLY consolation is Conyers has ALL the other BIG media networks there and NIGHTLINE...C-SPAN can kiss my ASS!

13. Guess we'll just have to make sure the video stream is captured
and then make sure we distribute the vid file far and wide over all the internets.

Make vhs tapes and burn dvd's of the hearing and give them to less computer savy citizens to pass around.
