Christian intolerance?

Over the last month we've seen several high-profile acts of religious intolerance in our state. A Baptist minister kicked out members of his congregation simply for being Democrats. In another case, a Baptist minister put up a sign saying to "flush the Koran." And let's not forget the especially heinous religious hatred of the Rev. Fred Phelps and his followers who were in Durham last month. How did the teachings of Jesus get so corrupted that hatred and intolerance has become so common in our churches? Jesus' teachings have always been about love and compassion. I think that we should take a good hard look at ourselves before we declare to the world that we are Christians. Our words do not appear to match our deeds.

3. Great letter
But unfortunately the bible shows plenty of instances where Jesus got pissed off (kicking the money changers out, being rude to his mother, cursing a tree, condemning people to hell) and because of that there's ample material to justify nearly anything.

also from NC.
And in the words of Ben Franklin, "I wish Christianity were more productive of good works. I mean real good works...not holy-day keeping, sermon-hearing, or making long prayers filled with flatteries and compliments despised by wise men and much less capable of pleasing the Diety."

Democratic philosophy = real Christianity.
