Did Bush really say he gets orders from God?
"God told me to strike at al Qaida and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East."

Did he really say that?

1. Ari called it an invention
but then again, most of what this admin says is crap.

The quote was supposedly from a tape or transcript from a meeting in the middle east.

3. It was published in the Israeli press
One newspaper, the liberal Ha'aretz, quoted Palestinian Prime Minister Abu Mazen as saying that Bush told him and Ariel Sharon that God had told him to get rid of Saddam, and now God was telling him to get peace in the Middle East. According to the Ha'aretz article, which was posted in the old DU, Mazen and Sharon were quite in shock and awe of Bush's messianic complex.

5. in the article I read
The anecdote was the last paragraph of the article, and there was no comment on its significance or any reaction. I was actually waiting to hear if Abas thought anything of this, since the article didn't say.

There's also a potential translation issue. I assume Haaretz is in English, but I thought I've seen Abas speaking through a translator, so I'm not sure he speaks English.

4. Yes, that faith stuff again
Once you start believing things without proof, proof's unimportant.

Don't take it as a slap or an insult, believer friends, it's just an example of why things that go on in the mortal plane need to be explainable and provable. Once it gets in the mind that one has some kind of omniscient window on things that the rest of us don't, proof really is just something you get enough of to cover you when doing what you please.

This is an abomination, but certainly a good example of what faith does in the hands of the naughty, and a good reminder of why secularity must be the way when politicking.

Again, I feel sorry for those believers out there who are simultaneously saddened, sickened and betrayed by the abuse done in the name of their (fill in the blank here), and besieged by non-believers who hold them accountable for the actions of creeps like this. Consider yourself to have my support, for whatever that's worth, but please try to take back the god card from these despoilers. This stuff can destroy the world. These schmucks will stop at nothing.

This man and his ilk must be utterly ruined in the eyes of the world, and once safely out of power, they should be hounded and prosecuted with the zeal of self-preservation.

7. Isn't God Rev. Moon?
After all, Rev. Moon is a very close friend for the Bush family and has been for many years!

Bush also has the blessings of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Gary Bauer, and the rest of their ilk! Bush=The Antichrist!

9. I'm pretty sure I heard him say it on mike malloy
that the fairy tale god gave him instructions to attack I mean we have the right to attack if god tells us to. Not only that but we are special and in that specialness our loss of life even if it doesn't in any way relate to our loss of life gives us the right to kill other innocents in the defense of our loss of life......isin't that right?

All life is as important as any other. god......is no more than a mythic tale it gives no one the right.....to kill. and yet.....even the god george bush says he represents though terribly jealous doesn't condone killing your neighbor or killing your enemy your supposed to turn the other cheek.

the myth of our specialness should be exposed. Life is life. Killing is killing.

I could even cope somehow with this christian .....theology if people followed the higher path of christianity but no alas it seems to be used to hurt destroy and allow people to suffer and die.

If jesus ever lived and he encouraged the higher path....what a sadness his legacy has rought.
