1. I fucking hate the government of China
and anybody with a half sense of decency does to.

Communist China in my opinion makes Saddam look like a lowly car thief.

I am sure there are more important issues to deal with in Beijing, rather than what size dog you have in a home

6. How draconian
I can understand why they'd want to limit animals in a crowded city.
They could rather achieve their ends by having a dog-license system
that charged more for dogs that they deemed socially less constructive.
Dogs poop goes in to the trash/sewers. They are a burden on city
infrastructure in a way, as well to a society that treats animals as
vagrants.

Its just silly, such laws. I could not find any explanation of the
35cm rule either, as normally its to the shoulder that such measurements
are taken. To the ear, it would cull a lot more dogs than i'm
thinking.?

7. Draconian is a perfect description,
and while I can understand placement of systems for animal control, I feel it is counterproductive to wrench a loved companion animal from a residence where bonds have formed to the family. Or who knows maybe the pooch is the only family to the owner guardian. Totally brutal, and heartbreaking... ..

8. This is nefarious.
I wouldn't trust that these dogs aren't going to end up in the fur trade.

Would You Wear Your Dog?

An undercover investigation by the Humane Society of the United States, reported in a 1998 Dateline NBC piece, revealed that dog and cat fur is a multimillion-dollar industry in Asia and found that coats and toys made with domestic dog fur are being sold in the U.S. “There are no federal laws preventing anyone from importing dog and cat fur into this country,” reported Dateline. “If the imported item costs less than $150, the importer doesn’t even have to reveal what it’s made of.” Dateline footage shows a German shepherd, tail wagging and head stuck in a restraint, moments before he is skinned alive. A cat, crowded in a cage, watches and waits his turn, as one by one, his cagemates are choked, slung up, and hanged just inches away.(9) New legislation outlawed the import or sale of clothing containing dog or cat fur, but the fur still enters the country illegally since it is intentionally mislabeled and can only be detected by expensive DNA testing.

15. Thanks for the link
I couldn't get through to the action alert on IFAW for some reason. This way I'll have an address to write to. :)

Who knows how many letters it takes to make an impression, but the more you write the better you get at it at least.

13. Thanks.
Ugh. There's a link on that page about South Korean dog-eating as well.

Ending Dog Farming and Eating in South Korea

Every year, more than 2.6 million dogs and cats in South Korea are killed in ways that deliberately create and prolong their suffering.

They die horrible deaths at the hands of traders who sell their meat for human consumption.

Dogs in South Korea are routinely electrocuted and sometimes hung, strangled, or slowly beaten in the belief that slow killing floods their flesh with adrenaline, enhancing their taste and aphrodisiacal properties.

Under the provisions of South Korea's Animal Protection Law, it is illegal to inflict cruelty on any animal, yet there are no internationally accepted humane standards for slaughtering dogs or cats for human consumption. And the practice continues.

leashes, bowls and sleeping pads for the smaller doggy set. Walmart execs say that profit margins and shiping costs are higher when you have a dog size "standard".

"We found that having all those diffrent sizes of items for dogs was difficult, inventory and shipping wise, so we asked our Communist friends to help us out."

17. Hate to seem stupid, but could this have anything to do with the....
...Avian Flu? I've been reading that it's jumping species pretty quickly, and not just various types of birds. If so, wouldn't this be a step toward slowing the possibility of a jump to humans?

19. This really pisses me off. They are Communists. Attention Freeps
What was drilled into our skulls growing up in the 60's in grade school? Evil Communists. They are still fucking EVIL!

But don't let that bother the Freepers with that disconnect of reality and business fantasy. They would rather turn their heads and open their palms behind their traitor backs to sell the rope to the Commie bastards that will hang us as a nation.

Dogs. So you know they are going to kill them all. What fucking evil these people, and their enabling Republican fuck pals.
