CHENEY: "Dean has never won anything, as best as I can tell."
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 03:48 PM by Bluebear

"I've never been able to understand his appeal. Maybe his mother loved him, but I've never met anybody who does. He's never won anything, as best I can tell," Cheney said in an interview to be aired Monday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes."...

"Governor Dean must be doing something right if the vice president of the United States would stoop so low as to use the governor's mother as a way to deflect from answering the concerns of the American people," Finney said Sunday. "It's no wonder President Bush's approval ratings are at an all-time low."

How do they determine who is governor in Vermont, the one who brings in the most jugs of maple syrup on election day?

61. Cheney?
He's neither a Texan nor an oil man. Oil men generally drill for oil.

He's from Wyoming and was installed as head of Haliburton as a figurehead to get government contracts.

Please don't blame everything on us; we've got enough to feel guilty about that we deserve.

73. At the time Cheney was announced as the VP candidate
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 09:28 PM by reality based
he had a home in Highland Park (Dallas), Texas, and he was CEO of then Dallas based Halliburton which provides technical products and services for oil and gas exploration and production and is a major construction company of mainly refineries, oilfields & pipelines, and chemical plants. You can define oil man however you want, but at the time I remember the "joke" circulated that the Republicans had nominated two Texas oilmen on their ticket. I know Bush wasn't an oilman either but he once played like he was at Harken Energy. Don't worry after the current crew goes (Bush, Cheney, Delay) I doubt that any Texans will be trusted with power in Washington for a long time, at least if the voters have a say. The bloom is off the cowboy, or should I say cedar-chopper?

Before Howard Dean Vermont had only elected 4 Democratic governors in its history. He was elected governor of Vermont 5 times. In fact, before the presidential primaries he had never lost an election being elected to the state senate, Lt. Gov and Governor.

Cheney is allowed to lie to the media with impunity
Remember the whopper during the 2000 debates about being a self-made man, when the company he was CEO of (Halliburton) basically stays permanently attached to the government teat? Or the one about Halliburton not dealing with Iran or Iraq, when it was actually making millions off both countries through subsidiaries? His lies are too long to list.

<<Maybe his mother loved him, but I've never met anybody who does>>

Of course not Idiot Number Two, you never bother to meet anyone human or anyone who has the ability to think or who won't sign the loyality oaths. You know, REAL people. You sure aren't one of them, until it's profitable and to your advantage to pose like one of us. But you can sure send us out to die easily enough under the guise of what passes for patriotism among your ilk. You wouldn't know what real love for our Country was if it bit you on your secluded ass.

and actually allow me to translate :

Damn! That guy has guts, we better move fast, or he'll tell more of the truth about us. Oh I know, let's do our usual trashing instead of answering. That ought to work.

32. It's been hard to respond to this statement
It's just so absurd that it's hard to even know where to start. These people are getting nuttier and crazier, thus setting themselves up for total exposure. I wish someone like Michael Moore would put some clips together of Rush Limbaugh's hateful spews, Hannity's recent attacks on the Democrats, Mehlman's incredible lies about the integrity of DSM being challenged by the 911 Commission, Bush's inability to even put two words together and top it off with Cheney's statement today, and then show the few clips of Howard Dean's comments, and let the American people decide for themselves.

It's just beginning too obvious and needs to come to surface for all to see. The moral people of faith need to be reminded that lying is wrong and they must condemn the administration for it.

There's no honor, no decency, no maturity left, nothing but viciousness and bullshit spewing from all of 'em. That fever pitch shows their desperation in their failure to keep the charade up. Dean sure hit a nerve, didn't he. As history always repeats itself, every dictatorship has failed by their own prides and egos. Good to see their downfall is now visible in the not-so-distant future.

Let them deal with all the residue its eruption leaves behind. After posting this, I realized it's pretty gross, but then again, when I look at Cheney's picture, I guess it really fits.

to a big-state Texan like Cheney -- oh wait, he's not from Texas, he's from Wyoming (where he was elected Congressman 6 times):

"Vermont has one of the smallest populations in the United States. Vermont's population in 2000 was 608,827 in 1985. That ranks Vermont's population 49th in the nation. Only Wyoming and Washington D.C. have fewer people."

62. that's because Dean's father's friends on the Supreme Court ...

... intervened to hand him the Governorship, and Dean himself capitalized shamelessly on a tragedy that was at least in part due to his neglect, in order to get another term ...

Oh, wait -- that's not Howard Dean. I'm thinking of Cheney's friend George W. Bush. Sorry!

p.s. Being Canadian, I love maple syrup. May I help count the jugs next election day?

76. Cheney is projecting now.
He's simply talking about himself, who illegally created wars which he could "Make legal"....

Dean is doing a wonderful job of telling the TRUTH!

Edit: And this, my friends, is exactly how any playground bully reacts to the TRUTH.

78. I second that - but I think they should change the "idiot" label
and make it "conservative projectionist of the week" or some such. It would be more educational to inform the public of all the ways that the rethuglican leaders have projected their inner bile that week onto those who disagree with them. That way they can have their words turned back on them.

Anyway, thanks everybody for a surprisingly entertaining thread tonight!
