:wtf:

The real lead is

IRAQI WAR JUSTIFIED WITH WILLFUL LIES

aka

BUSH ADMINISTRATION COOKED THE INTELLIGENCE TO SELL THEIR BULLSHIT WAR

How in the hell do they justify changing the lead to focus on British doubts about our lack of post-war planning -- 8 months before the invasion? Oh boy, that's really newsworthy! :sarcasm:

It's like breaking the news of Watergate with the headline "Nixon Administration Hires Illegal Aliens" or announcing the Iran Contra story with "CIA's Training of 'Freedom Fighters' Questioned."

2. Actually, this is a good thing...
It presents the memo to the majority who are dissatisfied with how Iraq is NOW. It gives those who are interested in the here and now a reason to accept the memo's validity. The press conference itself brought the 'intelligence' portion into the mainstream. This just gives a new spin to the memo so that the press can justify continuing to write about it. There are many different sections of the memo that stories could be written about. I can only hope that they'll cover all of them, since they are all damning, and those stories would, ultimately, prove the truth and validity of the DSM in a way that Bush & co. cannot deny. That's when the house of cards falls down.

So, give the WaPo some credit. It is on page 1, after all, as opposed to no coverage at all. I much prefer where we are now, to where we were the first week in May.

3. This is the AP's very first mention of this memo!
The AP is THE US news wire service, and this is the VERY FIRST TIME they've acknowledged this memo's existence.

4. And now even this spun yarn is being yanked from the "free press."
