Urge Congress to Reform PATRIOT, Not Expand It!
If you oppose the USA PATRIOT Act, now is the time to act. Many of the law's most dangerous, civil-liberties corroding provisions are set to expire, or "sunset," at the end of this year. Yet Congress is considering legislation that would not only make these provisions permanent, but would actually expand PATRIOT even further.

Fortunately, momentum has been building behind the Security and Freedom Ensured (SAFE) Act, a bipartisan bill that represents our best hope for curbing PATRIOT's powers and safeguarding against abuse.

The SAFE Act would enact several key reforms, including placing limits on the FBI's ability to intercept information about your private Internet communications without a wiretap order, preventing the government from using "National Security Letters" to secretly demand the private records of
Americans who are not suspected of spying or terrorism, and requiring additional reporting to Congress and the American people about how PATRIOT is being used.

Word on Capitol Hill is that the President is determined to sign a bill renewing PATRIOT on September 11th. Make sure that he signs the SAFE contact your Congressman today!

3. Ideally, it would be scrapped altogether...
In reality, all the tools to find terrorists were in place before Sept. 11. The Patriot Act is aimed at all of us.

5. A BIGGER, more powerful Big Brother.
If any administration would abuse such power, this it it!!!! The ANTI-patriot "act" has prolly been amply abused; only,...the documentation of such abuse is not produced or it is destroyed.

4. We can urge all we want
All the angry letters, all the phone calls, and look where our Congress has gotten us.

6. Well it will never change if we give up.
Imagine MLK taking that attitude. Or the people who fought hard for the Bill of Rights.

Pessimism is a disease and it ROTS our political system.
