Second installment on our "Great Filibuster Compromise" win
Uber right wing judge Brown is now on the court. She follows uber right winger Owens. More to follow.

Way to go Dems! Some more victories like this and we'll be extinct.

1. She's in there but she's been marginalized
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 10:48 PM by Erika
I heard Savage talking tonight about her and how she got where she is with the help of affirmative action but she and Condi don't believe it's needed any longer. Of course Savage agreed. You know, the old Republican line, they got theirs but don't want anyone else to get that help.

Justice O'Connor said that affirmative action will be needed for at least another two decades.

All W's radical, once rejected judges, will carry a stigma with them. It was a devisive decision by W to run their names through after they had been once rejected. Both his and their legacy will suffer for it.

2. Dream on.
She's on the court for life and her votes will matter to all of us--in a negative way. She's no more marginalized than Thomas and Scalia.

5. It wasn't a victory.

It was avoiding the nuclear option from eliminating the fillibuster, for the american people. The fillibuster is preserved and the judge appointments are only on the circuit court...Maybe not lifetime appointments either, since judges are removable on the lower courts.

6. I would have rather seen them lose the filibuster in a *real* fight
There were reasons these 3 judges were blocked. Now they are all moonwalking (no offense Mike) into office - for LIFE.

If the "Nuclear Option" had been put into play to force these judges, the GOP would've have had to explain to the whole world where they sit on the whole idea of separation of powers.

3. and they're perfectly free to initiate the "nuclear option" anytime . . .
in the future that they deem fit . . . as in the battle over the first BushCo SCOTUS nominee . . . we won nothing . . .

4. This was not unexpected
Lets see what Dems do when a SCOTUS seat comes up. Then I'll start gnashing my teeth and all that.

7. Damn them

These people are the worst. If I had the money and abilities to move from this country I surely would. Things are just horrible here. We don't have a free press, we're going to be in "war" forever and more to follow, I don't have health care, it's hard to find a job and you have to worry about the enviornment and if the water you're drinking is safe.
