Downing Street MINUTES (not memo).
It ain't a memo, it's the minutes from a meeting. Let's not let them off that easy. It's words actually said at an actual meeting that actually took place.

2. This isn't semantics...
Minutes are taken down as FACTS that happened. Memos are not. In the legal world, there is a BIG difference.

5. Sure in the legal world...
In the real world, yes, this is semantics. And it's a bad idea. We're only just getting people to pay attention to the Downing Street Memo, and now its the Downing Street Minutes? It's already been branded one way. Keep it as it's going and don't confuse small-time media consumers.

I know what minutes are.

In the media world it's more important to make sure thateveryone knows they wanted a war without cause, knew the case was thin, fixed intelligence to support the policy, planned to provoke Saddam for justification, planned manipulation of UN etc etc.

This won't get to the legal world if the content is not known. Once it gets to the "legal world" you betcha that it's minutes and not a memo will be very known.

"Mr. Blair, as the minutes reveal, you were in the room when all of this was discussed but there is no record in these minutes of your objections or disagreement with these assertions. What was your response when told of this?" etc.

If someone calls it a memo who cares unless they are saying that to disprove its validity which even the war criminals haven't.

4H Club
Elks
K of C
Shriners
Historical Preservation Society
Girl or Boy Scouts
Sorority or Fraternity
und so weiter und sofort...

C'mon kids, you know what MINUTES of a meeting are. "The Secretary will read the MINUTES of the last meeting..." :boring: WHO.SAID.WHAT.WHEN.

Contrary to the norm, THESE are pretty interesting. Let us NOT sleep through them.

DOWNING STREET MINUTES - OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT MINUTES OF AN OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT MEETING - distributed to U.K. EYES ONLY in the form of a memorandum...

10. *Corporate media's ONLY firm conviction
is that they publish the spin of their overlords. Citizens can wrest the language from them by referencing memo=MINUTES in EVERY conversation, LTTE, phone call and flyer.

8. Right. They are minutes. Not a memo.
It is a critical difference, but the word "memo" is out there already. However, in discussing the issue with those who would dismiss its contents as unimportant, then would be a good time to stress the significance of the document.

12. I really don't like the use of the word minutes. I know we're trying to
get it to catch on and all but I don't think the term works, even though they are minutes.
