Bush is just as bad as Pinochet
according to Paul Craig Roberts
http://www.antiwar.com/roberts/?articleid=6254

"General Augusto Pinochet, approaching his 90th year, has survived many years of legal harassments resulting from alleged human rights violations during the period of the Chilean military government's war on terrorism. On the basis of a U.S. Senate staff report, Pinochet is now going to be investigated for stashing $13 million in U.S. banks.

What is interesting about the Pinochet case is that everything the former president of Chile is accused of, George W. Bush and his cronies are guilty of. Indeed, why are Senate staff wasting their time on 30-year-old alleged crimes of an elderly Chilean when the president of the United States ought to be in the dock? The prosecutor's brief – the Downing Street Memo – is already written."

2. If Bush was as bad as Pinochet DU would be offline
along with most of us DUers, if you know what I mean. I am not saying Bush wouldn't be as bad as him if the U.S. was as weak of a state (i.e. susceptible to total sway by secret police, etc.) as Argentina but fortunately we have a certain civil/civic stability that, for as bad as Bush and his Company are to our country and as complicit as the media appears to be, it is not as bad as Pinochet's ironfist in Argentina.

3. I assume you mean Chile. Roberts makes the case that Pinochet was
merely over-zealous in prosecuting real terrorists that were living in Chile. I am sure there are other sides to the story, and perhaps Roberts is down-playing the amount of innocent people that Pinochet killed. But what I didn't realize is that Pinochet actually was fighting real Chilean terrorists. And just like Bush fighting "terrorists" in iraq, a lot of innocent people get killed.
