5. I would say they were spineless
but that might insult the invertebrates in the Zoo. The Tulsa mayor is running for his repug political life after being left behind on a city counsel recall of some fundies/repugs. He has to prove to them that he is a true believer.

What is going on in Tulsa, IMHO, is that the mayor and the chamber of commerce, traditional repugs, are being pushed by the ever strengthening religious right in Tulsa. Hard to believe that a chamber of commerce could be viewed as anything but conservative.

Basically, some local fundy nutjob is upset that the zoo has an elephant statue named Ganesha as well as a Native American quote on another statue with a globe on it and wants equal time for Christianity. He's been pushing to get intelligent design equal time at the zoo since 1995. Fortunately, they keep smacking him down.

As I noted in the other thread, he's missed a big one since the rainforest has pre-Colombian-esque images/statues including one of my namesake, Tlaloc, the Aztec god of rain and water.

8. 79.6% NO and 20.4% YES
This is good news. For a while, I thought Oklahoma was hoplessly lost to the Religiously insane.
