I got a reply from my Senator re: DSM!!!!
Thank you for contacting me regarding your concerns about the so-called Downing Street Memo.

Though I have not yet been able to verify the contents of that memo, its contents, if true, are disconcerting. Given my concern about this issue, I have contacted the British Embassy here in Washington.

I will keep your comments in mind as I try to get to the bottom of this issue.

Thanks again for writing.

Sincerely,

Ken Salazar
United States Senator

10. Agreed. The letter reeks of disbelief or non-concern.
When I wrote to my senators and congressmen, I often got tailored stock responses like the one above.

I don't write anymore, they do not care about those who vote them in.

6. Great response!
I wonder what the offical British Embassy response is.

I didn't see anything on their web site. I don't suppose it is something they want to flaunt.

7. So did I. Heres mine from John Cornyn.
Doesn't look like your senator and mine will be sharing a ride to the British Embassy.
<snip>

"Thank you for contacting me about the United States' policy toward Iraq. I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this important matter.

The end of Saddam Hussein's regime liberated the Iraqi people from decades of oppression and relieved the international community of a destabilizing influence. Successful elections held on January 30, 2005, dealt a strong blow to terrorists and represented a major step toward Iraqi self rule. High participation in the elections demonstrated that Iraq is making solid progress on the hard road to freedom. I admire the exceptional performance of coalition troops, and I am proud of the work they are doing. Our nation is grateful for their sacrifices, many of which we will never know.

Liberation from Hussein's rule was Iraq's first step on the long road toward democracy. Although there were real disagreements over how to deal with the threat posed by Saddam Hussein, we all agree that a democratic, stable, and prosperous Iraq is in the best interest of its citizens, the region, and the international community. Indeed, the world is safer today because Saddam Hussein was removed from power.

I remain committed to working with the President and my congressional colleagues to provide funding for operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere that is necessary to prosecute the Global War of Terror. These funds are being used to support our troops and the essential work of reconstruction. While our global efforts against tyranny and terror are costly, it would be far more costly to do nothing, to give up, or to fail. As we continue to work with our allies, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to a democratic Iraq so that its citizens can look forward to a brighter future—one of self-rule and stability.

I appreciate having the opportunity to represent the interests of Texans in the United States Senate, and I assure you that I will continue to closely monitor the situation in Iraq. Thank you for taking the time to contact me."

Eat shit and die. Abusive letter to follow.
Sincerely,
Uncle John.

AArrrgh!!

8. I didn't bother writing to my republican senator
I would expect the same response from him. Might as well talk to a potted plant about the issue for all the good it will do you.

9. I can show you Coleman's. They're all alike.
I have about 12 copies of the same letter from him in response to my very different letters concerning war funding, the DSM, and some that just say I'm overwhwlmed by all the killing.

12. Repub is all I have.
I wrote both of them (Hutchison is the other) twice along with my congressman (K.Brady).

I write them so often they generally don't reply anymore. Actually, I was impressed that Cornyn sent anything with this much text even if it didn't say shit. I keep at it, I write `em and I call `em. I even call the Texas Reps that aren't mine if I like what they do!

Give `em hell Killbot!
