Is public opinion of bush even lower than polls indicate?
personal anecdote: yesterday the neighbor wanders over from across the street. Someone I've rarely talked to, seems a nice enough guy, but I kind of figured him for a wingnut.

Here are the 3 things I found out about my neighbor yesterday:

1) He's a Rapture Christian who believes we're in the End Times.

2) With racist tendencies (started talking shit about another neighbor until I nipped that in the bud with my patented uncomprehending stare.)

3) Despises George Bush.

Among his insights:
"There wasn't no problem with Social Security until he got his greasy hands on that money."

"That war in Iraq is about OIL."

If I was K. Rove this is the kind of thing that would make me dig my special blankie out of the closet for a vigorous thumb sucking session to quell the anxiety.

3. I think it is very low, except for the extremist on the far right.. they
are holding on for dear life. Think they will stay on the sinking ship?

4. I forgot to mention
my neighbor also moved up here from W. Virginia. A white, male, rapture christian from the South, who should be safely lodged in the pro-Bush column. But somehow, even without internet access, he's seeing through the b.s.

What the hell is going on here -- aren't the networks doing enough to distract the population? Do they need to find even more missing children and celebrities-on-trial? Sweet jesus on a trailer hitch, where is the next sniper, wife killer or man eating shark that can save us from having to perceive reality?

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htm

I still can't figure out how they always seem to prop up his numbers at that site without actually lying, or do they simply just lie?
