The cost of someone else's clear conscience
Edited on Sun Sep-21-03 02:03 AM by neuvocat
From now until November next year we will be hearing a lot moral character and what really constitutes a clear conscience. Of course we've been hearing all along with regard to George Bush, including the time he went to bed around 9:00 p.m. the night when he started the bombing of Iraq.

We all happen this see such an act for what it really is: one of a sociopath or possibly a psychopath. As the right wingers will try to justify this at this a man of conviction and one who is not troubled by the decisions that he makes, it simply underscores the awful truth and that is the deception that one may have about himself. The Bible tells us the heart is deceitful above all. The awful truth is that a person with a clear conscience has a very short memory. We are all in agreement that Bush is not exactly the sort of man remembers things too clearly.

Of course that all comes from the typical sort of selective memory that conservatives have when disregarding consequences and responsibilities for actions taken, especially when they have not been entirely thought about.

Bush has not only ignored the worldwide protests but also the outrage expressed by his own congregation, which is supposed to represent the values that are supposedly at the core of his being. Bush is the sort of person who flaunts his luxury of having a moral character. Such a luxury never has to be compromised when one has to live such an easy life and has never had to make difficult choices or decisions.

Such a luxury like any luxury in life however has a very high price tag, one that most likely will not be paid by Bush. It is one that will not only be paid by America and General but especially by those who have supported him throughout his political career and they will surely realize that when the time comes there will be hell to pay for someone else's clear conscience in Washington.

1. whatever happened to citizenship?
if it doesn't mean being in control, freepers don't want to have anything to do with it. like a child who has to share a toy, most of them would rather not play at all.
sad, isn't it? 'do as i say, not as i do' and merely pretending to be concerned about mankind don't work as either local, national, or global models for citizenship.
'control' is not something those of us on the left consider a good model for living, either. when you honor the inherent dignity in all others, control is the last thing you have in mind.
just ranting.
thanks for the great post!
