how much further can they go?

I knew that with another term this admin. would try to pass as many freaky laws as they could before their time was up but damn, this list is getting huge and I don't see an end with 3.5 years left.

-24 hour mandatory snitch law
-law 2257 effective June 23rd - the beginning of chipping away at online erotica
-The Real ID
-the passport thing, can't go to mexico or canada with birth certif. and ID (not sure when this goes in effect? 2010
-working on making abortion illegal
-outlawing stem cell research
-employers checking credit (for NON financial positions) and widespread drug testing
-expanded FBI surviellance within Patriot Act
-making Bankruptcy impossible
-porous borders
-allowing outsourcing

I know there are more but this list alone is craziness. In your honest opinions how much further do you think they can go? Where is America at standing up against some of this?

That's what's helping me cope. But you're right, they will go as far as they can get away with to eviscerate our basic constitutional & human rights.

I'm making a presentation to a Dem group of over 100 on Monday, about the Downing St. Memo. I'm hoping to organize a group to go door to door to explain this and other issues to the people. (I live in a small county)I'm not letting this go. I've had enough. I swear I will start a hunger strike on the steps of our courthouse if I have too. I figure it's either this, or move to Mexico. I want to save my country.

They can please the fundamentalists by limiting federal grants, while corporations can still make money off the research.

All the way, eventually.

Where is America at standing up against some of this?

We have never been up against anything like this.
We mounted some of the biggest antiwar protests ever over the Iraq war.
We raised more money for Kerry than any opposition candidate has ever raised.
We have been flooding our Congresscritters with emails, faxes, and phone calls.

We're doing everything we know how to do, but it isn't working.
