I've been quietly posting at FR. Nothing weird, just odd comments. I made a point in post #9 (removed by moderator) that

<http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1414073/posts>

1) the courts have ruled on same-sex marriage in Canada\
2) barring the use of the "Notwithstanding" clause of the Canadian Constitution, it's a done deal.
3) The notwithstanding clause has been used once, it's political suicide for a Federal party to use it.

I thought is was fairly reasonable. It got me banned.

The very nasty name calling and paranoid responses remain.

Are they trying to be goofy?

2. D00D - newsflash: Any sign of supporting gay rights is cause for
immediate banishment at FR. I laughed because I thought they were kidding about gays recruiting and I got some really nasty bitch with a sling shot hitting me between the eyes. Not that I minded. I felt really oogie posting over there anyway.

10. It means "bump to the top"
Before DU, my friend Paul and I used to surf FR from time to time in hopes of finding amusement. More often of course, we were just sickened, and had to give it up, but one thing that we could never get was when these strange people would post only Bump! or BTTT. We were visualizing these cavemen sitting around shouting Bump! while they beat their clubs on the ground. Regardless, we googled and eventually found a guide to online discussion groups (or maybe it was some kind of FR FAQ; this is four years ago that I'm talking about) that indicated that bump and bttt are used to get a thread to the top of the main page when you don't have anything else relevant to say (or in this case, sufficient language skills). On DU, to set ourselves apart from FR, we often say Kick instead, or use the ever popular kicking donkey :kick:

6. I very politely corrected a factual error
about John Kerry's position on pulling out of Iraq. The poster made the claim that Kerry would immediately pull our troops out. I simply said that was not his position, and I gave a link to where Kerry's actual position was spelled out.

I was IMMEDIATELY banned. So join the club.

He even said it in the first debate that he wasn't going to directly pull out but do it smarter. :eyes: They really should take the word "free" out. It's false advertising.

8. Here's are some tips for posting at Freep:
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 08:54 PM by brainshrub
I don't like posting on conservative forums, it's a waste of time. Up until recently I used to post on a Conservative forum (not freep) and I just gave up when they resorted to immature behavior.

If you do want to post on Freep, here's how to do it without getting banned:

1) Use EXCESSIVE CAPITALIZATION.

2) Don't use spel-check commas or proper punctuation.

3) Make generous use of RW talking points. (The current one floating around is that Bush is being tortured by the Liberal media.)

ON EDIT:

I forgot the most imporant tip: Say something bad about Hillary Clinton. If you do that, you can call Jim Rob a monkey-fucker and get away with it.

ON EDIT (part II)

Here's what you should have written:

1) the courts have ruled on SAME-SEX marriage in Canada\

2) baring the use of the "Notwithstanding" clause of the Canadian "Con"-stitution it's a DONE DEAL. This is the same court that supports killing snow-flake babies.

3) The notwithstanding clause has been used once, it's political suicide for a Federal party to use it. If they did, someone like Hillary Clinton might come to power.

4) Jim Rob is a monkey-fucker.

11. Here's the link:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1415426/posts

Then came the successful election in Iraq, and the fear on the left multiplied. If Iraq turned out to be a success, Mr. Bush would become a hero. So the need to undermine the Bush administration became more intense than ever. But how to do it? Social Security wasn't emotional enough, particularly for young voters. What could be done to hurt Bush?

Then came the revelation--let's torture the President.

The New York Times had already primed the pump, running more than 50 front-page stories on the abuses at Abu Ghraib. Then came reports from the International Red Cross that more abuse was happening at Guantanamo. The American Civil Liberties Union was already challenging detentions there and so a strategy was sealed: the Bush administration was full of torturers and human rights violators. It was ruining America's reputation throughout the world. Bush was a villain.

...

Bush as a victim of torture, not a advocate of the practice is a new frame.

25. I'll be damned. It even includes cooking tips!
FYI--For those patriotic Americans who love to grill animal meat (People Eating Tasty Animals) using a charcoal grill, one of the challenges usually faced is getting the charcoal to light and stay lit. We've found an EASY way to solve this problem. Simply tear out about ten pages or so from the Koran, roll them up loosely into a roll, place under the charcoal and light. Voila! Sit back and watch those charcoals flare up!

So I guess this means FR is shutting down then?
