13. Yea but Paris is so morally bankrupt that she is doing fast food ads.
At least Babs and Jenna just get drunk & do the butt dance. Wait a minute, that might be worse.

6. Death-tax...inheritance tax.. It's just a "transfer of wealth" tax
Probably on goods and wealth that has been skilfully exempted from taxation for DECADES..:(

7. Why don't you spread that?
Choose a nice busy mixed forum (like yahoo or aol (if you have the latter) and have at it.

Instead of complaining, do something.

9. Actually, here is a thread from April detailing why we should NOT call it
the Paris Hilton tax:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=3479274

I think we should call it a "Dynasty Tax", since it's original purpose was to slow many of the Family Dynasties that had grown so wealthy and powerful through inheritance and had undue influence over the government because of inherited wealth:
"Conceived after the turn of the century, in an era of dynasties like the Rockefellers and the Du Ponts, the estate tax was designed to reduce the concentration of wealth."
http://www.finance.gov.za/documents/katz/4_d.pdf

BTW, here's some good sites that effectively debunk the RW Myths about the Dynasty Tax:

10. Lots of "common people" like the idea of Dynasty
the tv show AND the concept. They have somehow been convinced that they too, can become rich someday, and they must have the mechanism already in place, to protect their fortunes :eyes:

11. How about 'taxing unearned inheritance'?
Repubs love to talk about "hard-earned" money, when their money is anything but. Easy-earned, sleazy-earned and by-and-large just sit-on-your-ass and collect capital gains money isn't "hard-earned", but they love the self-promotional imagery. Unfortunately for them, the inheritance tax doesn't have so much as a single ragged thread from which to spin their usual "hard-earned" propaganda.

There is no meritocratic component to inheritance. Technically, in a real meritocracy, there would be no inheritance whatsoever. You'd think that those who religiously believe in nonsense like the United States as some kind of meritocracy, would be four-square for zero-inheritance. They never are though.
