Mom Accused Of Taking Money To Hide Daughter's Rape (WTH?)
Mom Accused Of Taking Money To Hide Daughter's Rape

POSTED: 8:13 am EDT June 2, 2005

WILMINGTON, Del. -- A social worker who assisted sexually abused children was accused of striking a deal with her boyfriend in which she agreed not to reveal that he allegedly raped her 15-year-old daughter.

The woman had allegedly agreed not to report the incident if her live-in boyfriend paid her $1,000 a month for 10 years, authorities said. Her name was not immediately released.

Both were arrested Sunday after the woman called police to report the alleged rape, which occurred eight months ago. The couple formalized the agreement in a notarized document, court records show.

Albert Laing, 38, was charged with rape, child endangerment, unlawful sexual contact and hindering prosecution. He remained jailed in lieu of bail.

she jsut as guilty of child endangerment as he is, if not more?

2. Absolutely
I'm a firm believer that if a parent allows abuse to occur, she should receive the same charges as the abuser himself.

4. Yes
I agree as well. The mother could've done something about it easily. Gone to police or child social services or someone. But she instead took money for silence.

3. She was charged
According to the report. That this woman worked with sexual abuse victims is stunning. But there are not enough details to determine anything other than she did file a complaint and charges have been brought. On the written agreement - what responsibility would a notary have when stamping such a document? Also, another black eye for children's social services.
