Monica Crowley gets Kaboshed by Jonathan Alter and Bernard Kalb
Craig Crawford and Monica Crowley on MSNBC discussing investigative journalism with Alter and Kalb.

Bernie Kalb has not lost one iota of smarts or mental acuity. Neither does he take shit from the likes of the RW Bimbette du jour (her 'In Nixon's Service' badge notwithstanding).

When Ms. Cowley suggested that the press 'targeted' presidents, he damn near came out of his chair. Grossly paraphrased, he said 'If you think reporters get up in the morning and decide to target a president, you're crazy. There are not targets that got there for telling the truth to the American people.'

Jonathan Alter, it seemed to me there to do part of Newsweek's 'mea culpa' dance. Too bad he wasn't listening to the music. :) He got his digs in, too.

I suspect they saw these two as a 'fair and balanced' pairing (with Alter probably coerced). I bet they never have *those* two on again!

2. You can easily insult Crowley all day long w/out being sexist, so
why did you choose to go sexist?

Cheapens -- and weakens -- your argument.

3. Don't you think that the RW'ers have trained up a bunch of
nice looking blondes to go on TV and push their propaganda? In that sense they are "bimbettes" because they are willingly being used because of their sex. Of course, when you listen to these women for 2 minutes they cease to be attractive, if you've got a lick of sense.

Do you think we need to counter this by getting a whole stable of hot looking guys to go on talk shows and talk up liberal politics? After all, TV is all about the visual.

5. All icing..no cake.. That's Faux's M.O.
Lip-gloss by the 55 gallon drum...mascara globbed on..nightclubby make-up, and blonde hair..That's the way their target audience likes their "wimmin-folk", and Faux delivers..

You BETcha they "train them and look for those "barbie-wannabees".. Same goes for the guys.. Handsome, in an unoffending..yet not too effete way..and well dressed.. They are going for the look of the "pleasantville" kids next door, all grown up..

Am I saying that attractive people cannot be smart?? Nope. All I'm saying is that Faux grooms "pretty people" who also happen to be rightwing freaks..

The left has always sought out intellect over looks, and we know how well that's worked out in the 15 second soundbyte world we live in:eyes:

16. Even the West Wing
pointed out the preponderance of brainwashed blonde republican bimbettes. ---can you say master race?

I spoze it helps with those long winter nights in the bunker in Idaho.

8. Eloriel, you accused me of a sexist
remark in another thread awhile back. You were DEAD wrong about that post, I called you on it and you never responded.

If you are going to accuse me, or anyone else, of sexism at least have the balls to apologize when your error is pointed out to you. If you still feel you are correct then defend your opinion.

Your "hit-and-run" tactics do women everywhere a disservice.

18. Maybe I didn't get back to that thread
I don't even happen to remember it. If you'd like provide a link and point it out, I WILL either apologize or explain further what was sexist about your comment.

Your "hit-and-run" tactics do women everywhere a disservice.

Oh, good grief. I'm really, REALLY sorry to disappoint you. I wouldn't have thought (a) some people needed that kind and level of handholding and/or (b) couldn't find the PM button to summon someone BACK to a thread, let alone figure out that might be needed.

19. I'm NOT impressed
by your back handed offer to apologize, and as for private messaging you because you aren't couteous enough to respond in public where the offense occured then you aren't worth my effort to track you down.

If you attack someone and disappear, that is "hit and run". You were and are guilty of those tactics and this discussion is now closed.

4. Did you see earlier with McGovern.
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 06:12 PM by dbonds
He was discussing deep throat. Said he wonders why the main press then didn't pick it up sooner. That we haven't learned any lessons and they are letting things slide now, like the lieing to go to war. He said would prefer a Nixon admin to this bunch any day.

Monica didn't know how to respond.

10. You can bet that Bernard Kalb won't be invited back
And then we can be treated to another round of pwog hand-wringing about where are all the articulate folks to talk about the liberal/progressive side? They're out there, to be sure, but once someone makes the media fools look like, well, fools, they don't get asked back to do it again. Instead, we get the likes of Alan Colmes to "represent" the comfortable caricature of a liberal wimp, though every now and then there are times when even Alan slips his leash.

But never for very long, and certainly not very often.

11. Okay, obviously a thread hijacking has taken place here
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 06:18 PM by Husb2Sparkly
Parsing and pissing gets you nowhere.

You don't like my choice of words, don't read the damned thread. Any halfwit with a small sense of irony knows the fucking thread wasn't intended to be sexist.

It was on a whole other topic.

But that's okay. I know who I am and I know I'm not sexist ... in the fucking least. But not knowing me, you'd have no way to know that.

So, instead of taking the thread at face value and responding to it ... or not ..... some choose to parse. Or to find a phrase and get all shrill and shrew-like about it. I suppose if that's what gets someone off, fine. Have at it. And have at me.

But I'll stand right here and defend what I said.

Was it *perhaps* a bit sexist? Yeah ... maybe so. But I was referring to one specific person ..... Monica Crowley. A Fox News clone. They have a whole fleet of blond women, heavily made up, all kinda 'cute', all either shrill or dumb. Or both. Not a one of them worthy of being considered in the least intellectual. Anyone who has watched just a few minutes knows they often assassinate the language with malapropisms. Anyone who has watched just a few minutes knows they often appear totally clueless about whatever it is they're 'reporting'. The fact is, they *are* bimbettes. At least a full bimbo is who she is. These women are less.

So, while the word have been seen by some as sexist, I in no way intended it as such. I re-read my post and stand by what i said. If you see it differently, that's your problem, not mine.

But hear me and hear me well. I am no sexist. And, as a man, I'll provide you with background to demonstrate that if you wish.

<edit to add ..... by the way, I'd also classify Alan Colmes as a bimbette .... or by my definition, perhaps a full bimbo. Is that somehow sexist, too?>

13. Baaaaad.
Do not say bimbette, that is a bad thing. Probably it's better to think of Monica Crowly as a featurless block of wood until you train your mind.

15. It's Time To Make A List
We should start cataloging the Nixon cronies who come out to condemn Mr. Felt. The light should shine on these people. Their role in the corrupt shadow government should be reexposed. Their influence in the political life should be removed permanently. The names: Pat Buchanan, G. Gordon Liddy, Henry Kissinger, Klein, Crowley, David Gergen, etc. Maybe this list can be expanded by others. Every American should be reintroduced to these miscreants for their despicalble part in Watergate.
