Reagan PARDONED Felt, said he served 'with great distinction'
http://www127.pair.com/critical/food-23.htm

Did you know Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon?

According to Families Against Mandatory Minimums Foundation (FAMM Foundation), "Ronald Reagan dispensed 393 pardons and 13 commutations during his tenure." I bet you didn't know that?

As Paul Slansky recorded the news, at that time, in his book "The Clothes Have No Emperor" (ISBN 0-671-67339-4), Former FBI officials W. Mark Felt and Edward S. Miller, convicted of authorizing illegal break-ins during the Nixon years, were "pardoned by President Reagan, who claims they served the nation 'with great distinction'" (4/15/1981). Slansky also recorded the fact that President Reagan pardoned George Steinbrenner (1/18/1989). Mr.Steinbrenner was convicted of making illegal contributions to the 1972 Nixon campaign. Did you know that?

-----take THAT freeptards-----

1. Very interesting...the break-ins Felt was convicted for
were in the offices of Vietnam War protestors, apparently. And Reagan pardoned him.

I was not aware of this. I wonder if this will receive any coverage?

(I already know the answer to that...it's a rhetorical question :evilfrown:).

2. It is being mentioned in most reports but is also being used....
to make the case that Felt BETRAYED his FBI colleagues.

4. I have to say I'm very suspicious of this guy myself
only for other reasons. The illegal break-ins, Reagan's pardon.

I'm glad he helped to bring down Nixon, but, being the minor-league :tinfoilhat: type that I am, I wonder what forces were really behind his leaking to Woodward.

3. He also pardoned Junior Johnson
for running liqueur in the '50s.

5. Stories with flawed characters are always more interesting
Frankly, I'm glad that Felt is so flawed. It would be too boring to have him as some angelic do-gooder who cared more about his country than his life.

I like the fact that Felt was just a bitter beauracrat who was pissed that he was passed over for promotion. And the fact that he oversaw illegal break-ins just means that Nixon was brought down by one of his own kind.
