There will be no new VP candidate for Bush
It's Cheney or bust. Period. First off, all of the old Bush/Cheney 04 material would be used relentlessly against the new ticket. Second off, dropping Cheney would mean Bush admitting a TON of mistakes/weaknesses. And Bush never admits mistakes.

Third, AND MOST IMPORTANT, Dick Cheney is the real President of the United States. He runs the show. He makes the decisions.

3. I think he's gone
I think he's going to bow out to avoid publicity into his various scandals hurting the puppet. He doesn't need to be VP to control Shrub--he can easily do that without appearing in public.

5. You're probably right, but it's too soon to say, they just recently
sent up the trial balloon, so they have to count the votes by the big boys.

6. Cheney is gone
He most likely will be dead by January 2009 as it is anyways.
People with 4 heart attacks and a pace maker die quicker. He is getting better health care than most, but he has crappy odds to be honest.

They have to know that Cheney might not survive 4 more years anyways. They might want to put in the party standard bearer they choose to replace him.

Energy report will be released or leaked. Cheney will have to go.

8. Here's the deal
Cheney stays on the ticket but takes the fall over whatever scandal falls first...Enron or WMD intelligence. Bush makes Rice VP and it's the year of the Women running in 2008.
