Do I need an aluminum foil beanie?
Something occurred to me today that I don't like to think is true. But the more I thought about it, the more it seemed it would explain a lot if it WERE true. So here it is:

What if Osama bin Laden is a double agent? And what if he and GW actually collaborated on the 9/11 attack to provide a pretext for playing out the whole PNAC fantasy about remaking the Middle East?

It sounds nuts, I'll admit. But it sure would explain a great number of things that otherwise don't add up.

1. If MIHOP is true
and I'm more and more inclined to think it isn't as crazy as it initially sounds, then OBL would almost have to be a player, unwitting or not.

Who Is Osama Bin Laden?

Prime suspect in the New York and Washington terrorists attacks, branded by the FBI as an "international terrorist" for his role in the African US embassy bombings, Saudi born Osama bin Laden was recruited during the Soviet-Afghan war "ironically under the auspices of the CIA, to fight Soviet invaders".

In 1979 "the largest covert operation in the history of the CIA" was launched in response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in support of the pro-Communist government of Babrak Kamal.2:

With the active encouragement of the CIA and Pakistan's ISI , who wanted to turn the Afghan jihad into a global war waged by all Muslim states against the Soviet Union, some 35,000 Muslim radicals from 40 Islamic countries joined Afghanistan's fight between 1982 and 1992. Tens of thousands more came to study in Pakistani madrasahs. Eventually more than 100,000 foreign Muslim radicals were directly influenced by the Afghan jihad.3

The Islamic "jihad" was supported by the United States and Saudi Arabia with a significant part of the funding generated from the Golden Crescent drug trade:

Addendum from Frederik: Osama was hired 6 months prior to the invasion of Afghanistan by Soviet Union ( http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=125&topic_id=40922&mesg_id=40929 )

3. You mean just because of all the connections between the
Bin Ladens & Bushes? Just because the CIA was meeting clandestinely with OBL the summer before 9-11? Just because OBL keeps slipping away? Just because we sent the Taliban $43 million for obscure reasons in Spring 2001 (a few months before 9-11)? Just because OBL puts in one of his strange little taped appearances just in time to help throw the '04 election to the Chimp? Is that what's got yer undies in a bundle, Bunky?

Sounds like you're just now falling prey to suspicions that some of us have had since about 9/12/2001.

5. I guess you haven's seen this yet
From the link in my sig line.....

In September 2001 the "catastrophic and catalyzing" modern-day Pearl Harbor envisioned years earlier by the PNAC came to pass when the WTC and Pentagon were attacked as Rumsfeld sat passive and unresponsive. The finger of blame was pointed at Osama bin Laden, a former CIA operative with ties to Afghanistan. Suddenly, the U.S. "gift" of $43 million to the Taliban in May was cast in a new light. Coincidentally, Pakistan had participated in the plan to attack Afghanistan and the chief of Pakistan's Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) agency was later linked to a 911 hijacker after wiring him $100,00 just days before the WTC fell. Pakistan's ISI also had a long-standing working relationship with the CIA.

6. The moment I saw the pictures
I confirmed my status as a nut case among my friends as I proclaimed "it was probably the CIA". Many months later I recall a story about how some rare coins of historical value had "luckily" be removed from one of the towers just prior to 9/11. What a coincidence. I wonder how many other coincidences one would find were they to take a gander.........

16. GOP scandal in Ohio involving missing "rare coins"
http://americablog.blogspot.com/2005/04/major-gop-scandal-developing-in-ohio.html

I have no idea how these two bits of information could possibly be related, but seeing the phrase "rare coins" in the space of two days kinda made me wonder!

9. You know what is wonderful about what you think? More and more
people are catching on. It's spreading. It is amazing how everything starts revealing itself to us. No need for a hat - just spend the time you would have spent making and wearing the hat to substantiate your theory.

Not that MIHOP is beyond the Bush gang, but I haven't seen any convincing evidence.

14. Doesn't sound too nuts..
Well, the CIA used Saddam for years...from UPI: Exclusive: Saddam key in early CIA plot

While many have thought that Saddam first became involved with U.S. intelligence agencies at the start of the September 1980 Iran-Iraq war, his first contacts with U.S. officials date back to 1959, when he was part of a CIA-authorized six-man squad tasked with assassinating then Iraqi Prime Minister Gen. Abd al-Karim Qasim.
