I don't know if she's anything now but that was refreshing to hear from my mom. :) Still working on my dad. ;) Oh and I also wasn't very fond of the deal in the Senate either. :\ They could easily pull it again.

Though Schultz isn't my favorite by a long shot, this habit of people presuming to be the sole interpreters of what real and genuine liberalness is is growing tiresome.

According to Randi Rhodes, Schultz was a Republican who smelled the winds of change and switched horses for the money he hoped to be on the early end of liberal talk radio. When AAR started up, they tried to reach a compromise over time slots. Randi said she tried to work out something so they all would win but Schultz wouldn't budge and was terribly insulting in his manner and words towards her. Looks like his reputation is well known inside the liberal talk radio community of hosts.

Radio is a cut throat and competitive industry. Many people compete for a very limited amount of time slots. Playing hardball in the radio industry doesn't mean one isn't a liberal.

I'm well aware of the bad blood between Rhodes and Schultz but I just don't buy the tale that he "smelled the winds of change and switched horses for the money he hoped to be on the early end of liberal talk radio." If this were so, he knew something before the rest of the radio industry did. It sound like a theory of Randi's.

I have no reason not to believe the official account that his "views starting shifting left-of-center upon meeting Wendy, a psychiatric nurse, now Ed's wife and producer. For one of their first dates, Wendy invited Ed to join her for lunch at the Salvation Army shelter where she worked so he could witness the "bums" he so often chastised on his show. Ed's epiphany was found in the faces and stories of the people he met, and his views began to change."

His prior party affiliation is of no matter now.
