I believe that the media will savage any Dem president the same as they did to Bill Clinton, and bend over for any Rethug president the same as they have for George W. The thugs have learned the Mafia method of intimidation and the Dems still think there's such a thing as a level playing field.

How do we change this? I don't have the answer, but I'd like to hear your suggestions.

1. it will make the "political assassination" of Clinton
look like a pep rally.

We must get the RW wack jobs OUT of the system. They are evil, traitorous, destructive, lying vermin.

2. Very possibly, but after the kid-glove handling of this one, it may
also only appear that way.

I say it's far better for them to criticize than coddle, but better still to be as objective as possible.

I don't want a LW press, I just want a capable one. We don't have much of that now.

can expect that there will be stories on the news. NO Doubt at all that it will happen. The question is can they take it to the impeachment level again? The Republicans are sneaky...

The media has been trashing democrats for decades.....
...why are they about to change? No change will occur until the heads of MSM change to those who will back liberal causes.

7. Howard Dean, thankfully, is the head strategist for our party.
Edited on Sat May-28-05 11:32 AM by Old Crusoe
I hope that if (when) a particular media outlet crosses the line from "analysis" into "character assassination" or "disinformation" biased in favor of the GOP, that Dean will engage the legal option:

Sue their asses.

Make them spend time and money and reputation defending their indefensible lies. Tie them up as they've never been tied before and don't let 'em go until they recant, retract, and apologize.

That's not a panacea, but it would be an appropriate and forceful response.

8. Oh hell yes
Look what they're already doing with Hillary. 3 years out and the swiftie types are out for blood.....and every bit of it gets printed in the mainstream media. We ain't seen nothin yet.

What to do. Spread the word....the sheeple hear one thing and it becomes gospel. Fight back, and the blogs are getting more and more notice, so there's the place to start the print wars. I think Kerry was way too meek when it came to telling them where to get off. And we, as constituents, can dog them in DC. Stand up for what we believe, not what we're being fed.

By the way, funny how that damning memo never got much time in the U.S., isn't it? And they bitch about the liberal media!

I am now off the soapbox ;-)~'

10. take back our airwaves?
Since the airwaves are owned by the people, taking back the FCC might be a first step and then re instating the Fairness Doctrine that Reagan (?) dismantled. As long as the corporations think they own the airwaves then we have no voice and they can besmirch anyone they chose and adulate whatever scum bag gives them the most money.

17. Fairness Doctrine...
Us Old Farts remember it well.... and miss it terribly.

Our local wingnut TV station would have it's rightwingnut chairman read one of those idiot spews, and the next night somebody from the other side would rebut it. Made the station look like idiots.

Imagine Al Franken coming on the radio after Limpballs.

It's nice to dream, but it ain't gonna happen. The corporations OWN the broadcast media and are not about to allow anybody else to use THEIR airwaves to question the corporations' right to rule.

23. Look at what happened to Dean ,
have you ever seen so much BS made out of the Dean Scream. "Douchbag W" can get away with being a Deserter, Drug Addict, Drunk, Total Business Failure, LOST EVERY Debate (Gore & Kerry) but the media said otherwise, and a Lying Fucking Piece of Shit!!

Most people thought Dean was a lunatic after the media did their thing. If "Douchbag W" had of done the same thing they'd have said what a Great Guy he is for letting loose and celebrating with his supporters.

This country makes me Sick!!

12. unless something is done about the voting process --
and the vote counting process -- in EVERY state, the chances of the next president being a Deomcrat are zero and none . . .

and since the chances of the voting/counting processes being corrected in EVERY state are also zero and none . . . well, you get the idea . . .

in dem's clothing.

And the media many or may not trash him/her depending on just how right-wing a dem it is.

The powers that be do not allow progressives to be president anymore.

15. The rw echo chamber that calls itself "the media" is
dedicated to making sure that no Dem occupies the WH ever again. The only way it can happen is for the Dems to unify and nominate someone so strong and kick ass with such an overwhelming lead in the polls that there's no possible way the repukes could pull off the "Diebold" theft and get away with it. As long as the election is perceived by the public as "close" a Dem victory is impossible.

Could you imagine if the media acted like we didn't have a president?

I bet I see that in my lifetime. I bet someday we have a president who does all the right things and has the right priorities and the media pretends we didn't have a president.

24. The ONLY thing we can hope for
is that the Bush people will screw up so badly that the press will simply lose their audience to the Internet. Their credibility will be zero with the people who are not on the rw fringe (and that's most of us).
