McCain to the Rescue?? Again?
<http://www.nytimes.com/2005/05/28/politics/28bolton.html?th&emc=th>

WASHINGTON, May 27 - One of John R. Bolton's leading Republican backers, Senator John McCain of Arizona, signaled his support on Friday for a compromise in which the White House might allow Senate leaders access to highly classified documents in return for a final vote early next month on Mr. Bolton's nomination as United Nations ambassador.

The conciliatory signal from Mr. McCain came as Senate leaders traded blame over who was responsible for the miscalculation that led to Mr. Bolton's nomination being blocked

Every time Frist tries to create a confrontation, there's McCain to difuse it.....Frist should just step down and let McCain run the show (snicker, snicker, snicker)

1. McCain can create a 3rd party in the senate.
I hope the "gang of 14" can pull this off. That would seriously hurt Bush's craziness and maybe they'll got something done.

6. I was thinking about that.
I do wonder about that. I feel like we have to deal with the immediate threat first.

15. Blue States
"Moderate" Reps. (and Independents) in the NE crossed over and voted for Gore/Kerry. It happened here on Long Island where registered Republicans are in the majority, but Bush lost both times here. The so called by Freepers RINO voters. You will lose that with McCain. He is not perceived as being as radical as Bush. As an example, constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. McCain does not favor gay marriage, but is against amending the Constitution to ban it. That sort of thing. Doesn't pander to the religious right.

I was just at the bank this morning and a man waiting in line was wearing a "He is NOT my President" tshirt. Two other people on line asked him where they could buy it. See?

9. This is no accident.- McCain to succeed his Chimperial Majesty.
Edited on Sat May-28-05 10:49 AM by CanOfWhoopAss
McCain is being groomed to succeed Monkey Boy. Part of the reason McCain stomached the chimp during the last election and gave him support is because Chimpy promised his brother will not run in the '08 election and will give him KKKarl Rove's assistance and support in becoming the next President. There is a power struggle and Frist will lose. Frist may know this already and is just putting up a good face for his supporters. It is not a bi-partison power struggle either. It is a struggle for the minds of the American Public.

Stand back and let them fight it out. Toss a bone in the ring occasionally.

orchestrated robbery. McCain has his marching orders -- Cheney/Frist demands waay more than they can easily get, Frist threatens to send everybody to Gitmo or some similar political hell, then McCain rides in on his white horse (Bush's sweetie) and saves the day by brokering a deal that gives the crooks what they really want plus a little more.
McCain is and has always been no more than a weak willed tool of the neocon mafia.

17. My problem, too
At a repub fundraiser McCain told a joke:

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?...Because Janet Reno is her father"

Jokes are jokes and he apologized (tho not to Chelsea or Reno) but what kind of grown man gives himself permission to say such a thing in a room full of people? What does it reveal about that person?

22. I have never gotten that disgusting image out of my mind.
THAT is why McCain shouldn't be trusted. EVER. Hell! Just think about it! His wife was called a drug addict. His adopted baby was called his "black love child"....:grr: He was said to have a HORRIBLE temper because of being a POW.....and the man STILL hugs and kisses the man who did all that to him and his family???!@#$%$#@! I would have left that fucking party faster than you could say "PRIDE".

21. well..
Notwithstanding the 2008 race - which I believe the Democrats will win, just because of the tatters the Republicans will have the country in - I hope that McCain wins this ongoing battle with Frist.

I don't like McCain. I don't trust him. I think he's an extreme conservative dressed in moderate clothing. But for the sake of the Republican party, I think he's the only chance of removing the influence of the Christian right from their party. That's something that benefits us all, and more so now than ever with theocracy perched on our doorstep.
