How Will The Democratic Party Treat Bernie Sander's Bid For The Senate?
Edited on Fri May-27-05 06:04 PM by ThomWV
As a Yellow dog Democrat I find this one troubling. In my heart I hope the Democratic Party won't run a candidate for the Senate seat but instead will throw its support behind Bernie, an Independent. Is that even possible?

I will contribute to Bernie's campaign as I can but I'm really wondering just how the Party is going to treat this one. Does anyone have any idea what the policy in this one race will be?

3. Vermont is solidly behind....
Bernie and I doubt any Dem will challenge him. The real question is who will run for his House seat??

4. Probably run another wimpy DLC candidate
It's certainly what we've come to expect from them.

I think Sanders will likely stomp his opposition. He's pretty popular.

5. The best option is to endorse Bernie
They can't beat him and he's been the most honest and responsible politician in the state (don't flame me, it's just an opinion) for the past decade. He represents the people and that's what the Democratic party should stand for. If the best candidate isn't a member of your party that should be of no consequence.

7. I support Bernie over most democrats. He is no BS.
Bernie is truely one of the few voices of reason in Washington. I hold him in higher regard than most democrats.

8. Our party's Chairman has indicated that the party PROBABLY will
DR. DEAN: We may very well end up supporting him. We need to work some things out because it's very important for us not to split the votes in some of the other offices as well.

MR. RUSSERT: In 1996 you said you would never have voted for Bernie Sanders. Instead, you opted in recent years to leave the ballot blank.

DR. DEAN: Bernie and I have had our difficulties over the years. We've had our strong disagreements. He's a strong personality. We're fighting for the future of America, and a Bernie Sanders in the United States Senate is going to be a whole lot better than somebody who will vote to confirm right-wing judges, somebody who will vote to undo minority rights, somebody who will vote to kill Social Security. This is a battle where personalities and differences have to be put aside, and we have to do what's right for America.

MR. RUSSERT: You describe...

DR. DEAN: And Bernie Sanders will be a strong candidate.
