Cowardly Marine Corps Releases Crazy Larry to Kill Again
Ilario "Crazy Larry" Pantano is the new hero of the right wing. As the officer in charge of a military checkpoint, he fired 30 bullets point blank at two unarmed Iraqis. Then, pleased with himself, he reloaded and put 30 more bullets into their dead bodies. He then whooped it up with Marine Corps slogans.

An embarrassed Marine Corps indicted Crazy Larry for homicide. But Marine generals didn't reckon with Pantano's Wall Street connections, who mounted an expensive public relations effort to free him. Pantano was portrayed in right wing media as the victim of liberal "political correctness." The main witness against him, a career Sergeant, was portrayed as unstable and unreliable.

Faced with an onslaught of bad publicity, the Marine Corps backed down. Crazy Larry, currently a training officer, is looking forward to going back to Iraq. He is something of a celebrity with the Marine Corps, and the toast of the Officers' Club.

2. (sigh) Typical Right-Wingnuttery
"We're there to liberate the poor Iraqi citizens!"
"We're there to kill all them terrorist towelheads!"
"We're there to liberate the poor Iraqi citizens!"
"We're there to kill all them terrorist towelheads!"

Red State vs. Blue State? Nope, that's just one Right-winger on four different days. (Or hours, if it's a busy news day.)

And trashing the good guys to defend the sickos? Par for the course; we saw what happened to Kerry.

We must not forget Pantano's past. When he goes batshit again--either in Iraq or back home (and you know it's just a matter of time)--the military has to be made to eat it in public.

Including the Commander-In-Chimp.

7. Nut Job Officers
It's no mystery where nut job officers like Larry Pantano come from. Recruitment is down so low the Marines have to scrape the bottom of the barrel. There's none of this "the few, the proud, the Marines" stuff anymore. Like other branches of the service these days, the Marines take whatever they can get.

Fortunately for Pantano, his Wall Street connections had lots of money to spend on a public relations effort to free him. Because he has embarrassed the Marine Corps, the generals don't know what to do with him. Right now they have him assigned as a training officer, but he wants to go back to Iraq. Fat chance of that happening!

In a previous war, the Army scraped the bottom of the barrel and came up with Lt. Calley. Is there a message here? You betcha. Nut job officers are more trouble than they're worth.

5. Well, if they run out then they're SOL. What's more satisfying, anyway?
Revenge or self-defense?

Obviously revenge. If not callous viciousness.
