Novak Says Hollywood Dems Prefer Bayh, Not Hillary
Novak was his usual lying self on "Inside Politics". Novak tells Judy that's the word he got from a Dem fundraiser in California.

Leftie Hollywood prefers a Lieberman-type Dem like Sen. Evan Bayh (Indiana) to a Dem with star power.

Yeah, right :eyes:

4. As if any Dem would even confide in a person with his record of diabolical
dealings. Valarie Plame comes to mind.

7. Hate to say it...
but........here goes............I kind of hope that Novak is right on this one.

I'm not a Hollywood Dem by any stretch of the imagination but I'd much prefer Bayh to Hillary. Bayh isn't as bad as Joementum but a star power Dem other than Hillary (like Edwards, Clark, or Kerry) would be good for me.

8. Novak's a liar, that's the bottom line. I doubt if any high ranking Dem
would devulge any inside information to any GOP operative, especially Novak.

10. I like Evan Bayh
As a former Indiana resident, now in Manhattan, I think he has what would appeal to moderate/swing voters. Just my opinion.

11. Bayh voted for that atrocious bankruptcy reform bill
He knocked himself down several pegs when he did that. He as well as Joe Biden. They both lost some credibility with that vote.

13. Now, I wonder why the Bob Novak followers
would want Baye instead of Hillery? :sarcasm:

I think they feel threatened, and want to make sure if a Democrat does win it'll be someone they can push around or use.

15. Not the focus of Hollywood big money right now:
Edited on Fri May-27-05 03:53 PM by Pithy Cherub
There are celebs looking to run for Governor - Rob Reiner, Warren Beatty. There are special elections that the governator is trying to spend money on that are being opposed and money from Hollywood is flowing into that.

Many celebs are notoriously liberal here and giving money to a centrist candidate would not run true to type at all. Hillary was here a couple of months ago and was extremely well received, as was Senator Obama. Hillary has CA as the number 3 contributor to her war chest and she hasn't ramped up yet. She and Boxer were related by marriage (Boxers daughter to Hillary's bro - divorced now). Wes Clark is regularly here and is exceedingly well received by the Hollywood players. Hollywood Money is sitting on its hands until there is some consensus around a candidate and causes.

My sense being here in sunny southern California is that Bayh would have major work to do to get that cash flow directed towards him.

16. Bayh is married to a Southern California Girl who is quite charming in
her own right. Susan. And she is a lawyer too. She has pizzazz and sometimes I wish she would run against Evan in the primary. Either has less negatives than Hillary, in the sense that 'negatives' are measured in polling.

'08 - Clark-Bayh /South-Midwest/ Older-Younger/

In a non-Diebolded election they take back Ohio, Missouri, Arizona, NM, NV, Arkansas, VA, -Bayh is an alumni of UV Law School. Hold everything else. Heck maybe even Indiana swings blue.

Would that be enough to WIN?

19. Wouldn't get MY vote.
And I don't think I'm alone amongst Indiana Dems who think they've been sold down the river by "Mr. New Democrat".

But he'd better run, because he pissed off plenty of ReTHUGS who considered him a loyal lapdog when he voted against the GOP party line a few months ago. Saw LOTS of "He'd better remember who voted for him!" LTTE's at that time. He may not get enough votes for re-election.

20. We Southern Californians earned the label "laid-back" for a reason.
No hurry to commit to anythng right now. It's hard for us just to flamboyantly arrive for sporting events on time. ;) For some odd reason we do better with splashy award shows.

Be truly aware that Hillary has major MAJOR serious money connections here and they overlap with Clark's in some cases. The Danson/Steenburgen, Thomason's, among the overtly obvious. There is also Black major Hollywood money where political people "in the know" need to strongly focus. One example: Earvin "Magic" Johnson, a big Villaraigosa supporter and endorser and President Clinton is strongly focusing on Africa and AIDS, synergy in the causes. Magic is a major player in the business community! Clark is not without heavyweight support in this area either. Latino financial power is greatly underestimated as well. Bayh who?, is pretty much the response right now.

We will see how it works out. I am a Clark fan and have much appreciation and affection for Hillary. I don't know enough yet about Bayh.:)

23. Don't care about Novak, don't care about Hollywood.
Hollywood has money, but I'm not sure it has anything else. I like Bayh, but I hope he's smart enough to run a campaign that is less Hollywood and more Indiana.
