Can A Member Of The House Refuse Constituents?
Can a member of the House of Representatives refuse the represent the stated wishes of his or her constituents? If, for instance, a petition was presented to a Congress Person signed by some certain number of persons from his or her district to bring up the matter of impeachment and that Congress Person did not do so would that be grounds for removal from office?

More importantly, is there any district in the country where a Republican is now in office but could reasonably be challenged by a person running on the single issue of being willing to bring Impeachment to the floor of the House? Now there's one I'd send a check.

1. No
There is no recall election for members of congress. The ethics committee is where the action would take place. This sort of thing wouldn't even begin to be a cause. Imagine if every group of folks out there could force action on the floor. The NRA would be very busy as would a heck alot of other folks.

You also might be surprised how little support their would be to impeach Bush. The general populace doesn't lie impeachment much.

2. Of course they could. They do it all the time!
Look at the fit the conservatives in Az are pitching because of McCain leading the compromise last week!

Of course, they run the risk of not beieng re-elected.

be a more popular platform. You bet your ass I would help anyone running on a platform that puts the removal of Bush as a top priority. I really am surprised someone hasn't done it yet. Especially given his recent poll numbers.

6. No. This is why they are re-elected every 2 years. If enough people
don't like what they did, they will lose their jobs.
