5 ships ordered to ''surge'' to support war on terror

http://home.hamptonroads.com/stories/story.cfm?story=86917&ran=157050

The Navy has ordered five ships and 2,800 sailors to deploy on unexpected missions to support anti-terrorism efforts in the Balkans and Middle East. Four of the ships will leave today.

The deployments are in response to requests from the European Command and the Central Command and are not exercises, Vice Adm. Mark Fitzgerald, commander of the 2nd Fleet, said Tuesday.

4. and all these ships deployed
means we have no ships left for any other wars that might break out like N. Korea....

wow.. we are truly thinking we can fight a 3 or 4 front war....

I think we're sadly mistaken to think we have the resources for this....

9. And what about the remote possibility of
one of these places saying, "enough" and coming after the US? Our main lines of defense won't be here.

13. Rumsfeld believe we can
Rumsfeld believes that the US Military is capable of fighting a multiple-front war around the globe. His logic is that we can just bomb the hell out of them and then send in inadequate numbers of troops to secure positions.

Don, it won't work against a nation with a real military!

30. YUP you got it...
I even read once Bush thinks we can fight 'remote' wars from command centrals in US, meaning few troops, just airpower and bombs...

and the point they are missing is that this kind of war is old timey, doesn't work anymore against terrorists, terrorists require more people on the ground more spies, more linguists, it requires a whole new way of thinking about war and the rummies of the world just don't get it with their big ship, big bombs theory of war...

16. Maybe the ships will BE Pearl Harbor
I would not put it past our glorious leaders to send ships into harm's way-- just to be mysteriously blown up in a Pearl Harbor style attack. Within minutes, we will find out that the bombing was carried out by "crazed Iranian terrorists" who hate us for our freedom and who fear Democracy.

We will then institute a draft and bomb the crap out of Iran, as we've been planning to do all along according to Seymour Hersh, Scott Ritter and others.

God, I hope this is just far-fetched fantasizing on my part.

Betting on Iran. Scott Ritter is generally on the mark with his theories, sadly.

18. That's what Mr. Ritter said. So far, every thing I notice points to him
being correct again.

As more shit hits the DC fan for the neocons, the bigger the next diversion will be. Laura failed as a target to creat the justification for martial law/clamp down on info to the public here and more war abroad. The junta has to tighten up the reins as some of the horses are taking their own lead.

Kids getting out of school and into an ecomony with nothing to offer. Recruiters have been going berserk trying to meet quotas... we will hear the sound distant thunder coming closer daily. x(

U.S. Marines practice amphibious landings on Nitzanim beach (Israel)

Marines storm ashore in Nitzanim
By ARIEH O'SULLIVAN

Hundreds of US Marines riding hovercrafts stormed ashore the beaches of Nitzanim Wednesday as part of joint maneuvers being quietly held between the US and Israeli militaries.

The Marines simulated an armed assault from the sea while IDF forces maneuvered inland until the two forces met.

Military sources said the operation was code named "Kaya Green." Troops were delivered by LCVs (hovercrafts) which also unloaded Humvees.

The Marines of the Sixth Fleet specialize in extraction operations to evacuate US personnel and conduct such exercises periodically in Israel.

19. coincides nicely with "pipeline opened"
A £2.2bn pipeline that will deliver a million barrels of crude oil a day to the Mediterranean Sea, and is set to become a vital gateway for central Asian energy resources to the west, opened yesterday.

Reading between the doublespeak, sounds like War on Terror == protect
our oil.

24. Yep...here comes 9/11 part two.
Bush's poll numbers in the toilet, republican senators and congressmen showing a modicum of independent thinking, everyone in the USA, except a very lucky few, feeling like we're being financially squeezed to a pulp.... This would be a classic neocon move....pull off another 9/11, and YIPPEEEE!! Here we go again!!

:woohoo: Terra! Terra! Terra! Terra!!!!!! :woohoo:

Republicans. They're in control. They've BEEN in control, since WAY before they turned so pious as to impeach Bill Clinton for a BJ.

This is America under Republican rule. Look at it. Taste it. Feel it. Know it. It isn't going away as long as republicans own the vote counting machines.
