Gallup's Newport said Alaska and Hawaii weren't part of US (CNN)
Frank Newport, the editor-in-chief of Gallup Polls and a regular contributor to CNN and CNN Headline News, listed the top five places Americans said they'd go if money was not an object. In no particular order the top five were Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and I think Mexico.

Newport said the highest-ranking US place was Florida, which came in sixth.

Now, maybe I misunderstood something in elementary school, but I always thought Alaska and Hawaii were US states. I mean, the US public-school system isn't THAT bad, is it?
