Poll question: Another Democratic Cabinet Nomination: Treasury Secretary
Here's the next Democratic Cabinet Nomination Poll, this time for Secretary of the Treasury. As before, you can provide "write in" nominations by posting a follow-up message. (To vote in the Attorney General nomination contest, click here.)

About the Secretary of the Treasury: The Bush Administration's directionless economic policy makes this post even more important. The person named to this post can reassure Wall Street and help move markets, both domestically and internationally. As James Carville said, "It's the economy, stupid," so getting this position right is important.

If you do pick one of the ten Democratic candidates for president, make sure you have an alternate. Winning the presidency makes that person ineligible for Secretary of the Treasury.

5. Krugman says he doesn't want it
He may be too much of an academic to handle this post. Ruben would be my choice.

7. Voted for Krugman,
but I don't believe he'd ever accept. Also, he deserves a higher spot.

11. All Democrats Except Maybe
Dobbs and Gerstner. Buffett is a Democrat but supporting Arnold in California, so he's fallen off the wagon.

Republicans are not necessarily disqualified in a Cabinet. You need one or a couple, although usually not in such an important post. (Norm Mineta is Secretary of Transportation and is a Democrat in the Bush Administration. Poor guy. :-))

14. I voted for Rubin
Although Krugman, Reich, Blinder, and even Buffet would make interesting choices. I can't wait to see who the next President chooses.
