Why I think we won't win back the senate in '06...
Edited on Fri May-27-05 09:25 AM by Javaman
Given all the troubles that moron* and his room full of dopes are in right now, the only thing that would push them over the edge and have them locked up would be accountability. However, since they control it all, that will never happen.

So therefore, I predict, that come the midterms we will see more of the same underhanded tactics regarding voter fraud, miss counting and out right robbery so as they can maintain control over the senate and the house.

Think about it, if they loose control of either, there will be nothing but investigations, nothing but questions regarding their crooked performance.

Do you honestly believe that the wolf would just walk away from the hen house?

If you are pissed and angry now at their screwed up concept of government, just wait, it's going to get worse.

Until the news agencies crawl out of the republicans collective butts, they will continue to suck up to them and their corporate leaders and continue to bury anything inflammatory about this administration and file it down the memory hole.

As for WE the people, they will clamp down on our only source of real news left, the Internet. Once they get rid of blogs, it's nothing left but an information wasteland.

7. Until the DNC takes this seriously...
You will see them continue to lose seats. We are NOT going to gain seats while electronic voting is in its current state.

9. One of Dean's goals is to get Dems elected as Secretaries of State
in each state. It is the Secretaries of State who control the election process. That is where the vote fraud battle lies.

11. Sometimes that doesn't matter
Case in point: Georgia.

Georgia's SOS is Cathy Cox, who up until the Diebold debacle was a perfectly great democrat. I'm not sure what the hell she was thinking bringing this mess to GA, unless of course she's been promised the governorship in 2006.

17. In some states the secretary is APPOINTED by the governor
The long term solution is to take election control away from the sec of state and into the hands of a non-partisan election commission, as done in Canada.

2. and if anyone doesn't think the federal judge fight is NOT about this
then they're really head- in the sand. Controlling the judiciary means election fraud as far as the eye can see.

5. I partially agree here...
But I think that, regardless of facing accountability for their actions, they still would rig elections. The more Republicans they've got, the happier they are -- because the closer they move to a one-party state.

6. Well, not to pee on your despair parade or anything...
But you wouldn't know about all the troubles the moron and his dopes are in if it weren't for the media. Not all of it, certainly, but stuff gets through and we should admit that.

Also, there's a backlash starting, tiny as it is, with these republican moderates in Congress.

Also, the moron's numbers are down, & polls are showing the public's growing disenchantment with the moron and his dopes. These numbers are being reported by the media.

It's possible it can all grow. There are a lot of people who aren't ready to give up yet.

I'm sick of the despair parade myself. We all know about these issues that are being pointed out, but what are we going to do? Keep fighting or ask Crito to pour us the hemlock? And if you start saying NOW that we can't win then, you know what? We defintely WON'T win. Did the British in the middle of the Blitz think they could win WWII? Only the nuts did. But, starting with Churchill, they never let on they knew this and they kept fighting. This is our only chance. If we "declare defeat" now we are fucked w/o escape clause and we better tell Crito to make that a double.
People, sometimes, in war (which is what this is) you have to lie to part of yourself to stay alive one more day. The alternative is death and certain defeat.
OK, off my soapbox.

8. God it's all so depressing
I mean there's really nothing to lookforward to. I'm just going to go back to bed. I mean why struggle when surrender is so much easier, particularly if we are doomed anyawy.

14. F*ck yeah
Look, it looks bleak, but I'm going down fighting. And the only way to win, however unlikely, is to KEEP fighting.

18. F*ck that noise
If it's a waste of time nad pointeless than it isn't the right thing to do. Its the bullshit thing to do. You should that only do things that are going to lead to a positive outcome. If fighting and organizing is just a bullshit waste of time, than it will lead to an immoral outcome, and it is, at the very least, a sin of ommission. I could be spending that time teaching kids to read or helping the elderly.

19.  Without the backup of paper ballots, we are at the mercy of the
programmers who can change and maniputlate the numbers and there is no way to prove wrong. Or like Ohio where they changed out the hard drives several times.
