Has one Republican outright denied what Kennedy said about Bush and Iraq?
I keep waiting for one to do it. But it seems like they just throw a lot of mud, say its an outrageous statement and that Kennedy is just playing politics. But not one Repug has said itis a lie. Has anyone else noticed this yet?

2. Now he's whining about Clinton and Milosovich...
I have never seen a Congressman with such an obviously low IQ. He makes Dick Armey look like a Rhodes Scholar.

9. Did you see Rahm Emmanuel put him in his place? Classic!
Weldon was sputtering - not making sense. "We didn't bribe other countries."

Rahm Emmanuel had an amused smile on his face and said "Yes we did Kurt. Calmly cited our "bribe" to Turkey before the war and another example.

God was that good!

No... let's talk about IRAQ, Curt.

I swear it was hilarious when he said that.

5. So far, you seem to have a point
They have trashed Kennedy, they have called it partisanship. They have brought up Clinton's shortcommings.

But when pressed they will admit that we are paying for foriegn troops, and the can't deny hat this was in planning all along.

Remember the "Focus on War" powerpoint presentation for republican campaign 2002? Or the "new product rollout" bit.

Could these people be more obvious?

7. ABC news had a rebuttal
My apologies. I don't watch tv news hardly at all so I don't remember the reporter's name.

He responded to two or three of Sen. Kennedy's claims. One, regarding the plans for the war announced in Texas in January and claimed to be "good for politics" or some such, the reporter said were actually from a speech made by Karl Rove in january 2002.

As for the CBO alleging a missing $1.5 billion/month from the funds spent in Iraq, the reporter said there were no such figures in any CBO analyses. Reporter further said someone from Sen. Kennedy's office claimed the senator had heard the figures mentioned somewhere.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but I'm just reporting what I saw on tv.

15. My apologies.
I didn't take notes while I was watching.

I think your claim is that since I got one detail wrong, the whole report needs to be dismissed. I think that's false logic.

Yes, the plan was concocted in Texas, according to Kennedy, not announced there. Sorry. My mistake.

Anyway, I haven't read the full report of Kennedy's statements, and as much as I would dearly love them to be 110% accurate and that he has the goods on the bushies enough to put them away for a couple of centuries, I will not be blind and deaf to evidence from the other side. It doesn't do our side any good if our logic and our arguments and our accusations are proven groundless.

If the ABC reporter had the other information wrong, please address that. Was the speech Kennedy referred to given by AWOL in January 2003 or by Rove, as claimed by the reporter, in January 2002? Is there a CBO report that shows $1.5 billion missing per month or not?

That's all I was pointing out.

16. Actually, I didn't think you got the detail wrong,
given the quality of the media, I assumed ABC got it wrong and you were repeating what they had said.

Kennedy did claim the his figures about the missing $1.5 billion came from a Congressional Budget Office Report. Given what Greg Palast said in his book about how some reporters check their facts (he cited examples of reporters making one call to Jeb Bush's office to ask if there was fraud committed in the 2000 election and taking his office's word for it), I don't know if the ABC claim that there is no mention of it any CBO report is any more reliable. For all we know, the reporter called DeLay's office and asked him.

The Yahoo article does not say say if Kennedy was referring to January 2002 or January 2003. While January 2002 would be more damning, 2003 isn't a lot better.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20030918/ap_on_go_co/kennedy_iraq&cid=512&ncid=1480

Personally, I don't think Kennedy would be making these statements if he couldn't back them up. He's too smart to risk his credibility that way. (Yes, I know, that doesn't prove anything.)
