let's make the reopening of a 9/11 investigation a dem primary issue!

FBI closes investigation of 9/11 put options. No names named. No problem. No bad guys. Nothing to it at all.

I think DU should combine energy forces and create a new issue for the democratic primary candidates.

The questions:

1. Will they affirm that a new and fair 9/11 investigation will be called immediately.

2. Will they rescind the exec orders by Bush that closed presidential records 25 years back?

3. Will they rescind the exec order by Bush that created a sticter policy toward classifying documents (ie, that went counter to Clinton's opening up and declassification of governmental documents).

4. Will they rescind the exec office/DOJ memorandum of instruction that tells all governmental agencies to construe FOIA requests as strictly as possible. (regarding that memo EDICT Ashcroft sent out saying, "if you can restrict giving something under FOIA, do it.")

I want a commitment from whoever I vote for that they will return the executive office to the realm of open and free government. No matter who your candidate is, she or he should be able to make this commitment right now, today. I think most everyone on DU can agree to this irrespective of who their preferred candidate is.

I want a campaign promise. I don't want to get into a dem presidency and have a president completely waffle on any issue that they condemned Bush for.

We should write a commitment letter that each candidate can sign attesting to this as a distinct campaign promise for OPEN GOVERNMENT.

eergggghh, I am mad about all the lies and coverups.

1. Campaign promise?
I can't think of a quicker way for a politician to lose an election..by focusing on who's to blame for 9-11. Americans don't want to hear conspiracy stuff. They blame the terrorists.

3. Maybe just tell them that Bush said Saddam was not involved with 9/11 ?
Would that be acceptable?

2. you have to read this article
it really links the lies and deception to the changes in opinion.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2003/0314/p02s01-woiq.html

Example: Sept. 11 only 4% of people believed there was a connected but by January '02 44% believed this lie. In one speech before the war, it says, Bush mentioned 9/11 eleven times.
