One of the most entertaining freeper threads I've read
It's got nearly every kind of prejudice, bigotry, paranoia, freeper wisdom and even some infighting. I found it really entertaining, but then again, I've been drinking, just a little.

Some samples:

"Excuses, excuses. You're obviously uneducated and a name calling bitch, . . . ."

"I know several trashy people with money, I know several rich people who are poor"

"I sympathize. The cost of health care is staggering."

"TWO of my credit cards look like the American flag. I hate to think that there are some people who will look at my method of paying for my groceries and assume something because of that." - she's afraid someone might think she's on welfare.

"But you will be rich one day and she will not. The poor waste their money, which is why they're poor!"

"They were Black but just had the look of wealth. They bought over two hundred dollars worth of meat and paid for it with food stamps.
I followed them out and noticed they got into a new Alfa Romeo sports car."

"And she bought steak and Chicken Voila while I'm eating tuna and burger."

And so much more!!!

lol

If you're (the original poster) so poor you cannot afford steak and Chicken, why are you a Republican?

By the way, this whole story about how they saw someone pay for nice lots of food with food stamps and drive away in a nice car while the story teller has to by mac and cheeze has been around the block so many times it's not even funny.

11. I remember a tv townhall meeting back in 1992 or maybe 1988
They had the state representative who was a proto-freeper. The topic was health care and she said something to the effect that if people didn't need a second tv, they could afford their own health care. She got booed.

5. The first post did it for me
I really think this person is retarded. Not delusional or anything, just retarded.

"The story is this:

My mom and I were visiting this Mexican friend of hers (legal resident, if you ask) who is pregnant, and this lady lives in a trailer park strategically located in Chesterfield, an upscale suburb of St. Louis.

The leftists always rant and rave about how the "poor" are oppressed here in the "evil American empire", but the reality is very different:

-Half of the trailers sported a satellite dish, the other half have digital cable with HBO and Cinemax.

-None, and I say none, of the cars at the park, looked like it was more than 5 years old, and most of them were spanking new SUVs.

-The children looked well fed, and they were well clothed, and riding bikes which looked pricey.

So the next time an unwashed communist "poor people activist" tells you about horror stories about poverty in America, please, tell him to f*** off and tell him/her most people around the world would kill to be "poor" in America."

9. This is such a crackup.
Just exactly who are the poor people supposed to be in this story? Is the Mexican friend supposed to be poor because she is Mexican? Are people who live in trailer parks automatically supposed to be poor because they live in trailers? Even trailers in pricey neighborhoods? Whoever wrote this has no idea what poverty is. Maybe someday she'll find out.

don't all the mexicans make a run for the border by nightfall? I love their absolute hate of the "illegals"...I'd love to transform all the freepers into illegal MEXICAN aliens and see how they handle it.

this statement is classic: -The children looked well fed, and they were well clothed, and riding bikes which looked pricey.

what would she be expecting? poor people with holes in their clothes resembling emaciated children from africa? Not all trailer park inhabitants live below the poverty line.

thanks for the post, these people are a hoot!

23. Quite a story, actually.
It's difficult to create a fable about the poor, putting them in an upscale neighborhood. But apparently that get's fixed with the trailer reference.

I wonder how that person knew they were getting HBO and Cinemax ("other half have digital cable with HBO and Cinemax")...did she take a neighborhood poll, peek in the windows, or tap into their cable signal?

The stories some people will create in order to justify their biases is quite amazing, I think.

"I can always predict how someone's going to pay for their food. If I see a cart with a few selections, cheaper cuts of meat and store brand labels, I know they'll be paying with money. If I see a cart filled to the top with pre-decorated cakes --$25-40 kinds, cokes, the expensive ice cream , candy, cookies, expensive brands then they'll be using food stamps."

'Hey, I feel ya on the changed economic circumstances. My hubby is self employed and has been out of work for 3 months. Gee I wonder who's making out on this deal. Not you. Not the illegals. They're working for $3 hour with no benefits. So, it must be...the contractor! Now, you ask youself, Is that contractor a D or an R? Bet he's a good old god-fearin', flag wavin' R, ain't he? Now, I want you to think about that the next time you and your family sit down to your fifth dinner in a row of Top Ramen. How much money he's making off of the illegal's cheap labor, and how he really couldn't give a crap if you and your family are left out in the cold. Then, what the hell, after dinner go back to watching Fox. It's so much easier than thinking.

(No offense to any contractors here, of course!)

15. Ummm, You only get a little over one hundred bucks a month in food stamps.
And your personal wealth is used in the process of qualifying for food stamps. So, if you owned a new Alfa Romeo(Do they make those anymore), it would automatically not qualify you for food stamps.

This only backs up my theory that at the core of Republican politics lies a racist/classist agenda.

The above rhetoric is nothing but racist lies.

There are now food stamp cards like a credit card. They swipe it like a credit card and the data base knows how much is left in the FS account.

I suppose there are ways to sell the card to someone else. I don't know if the cards have a photo on them. I've been retired four years.

21. Proof they have holes in their chests where their hearts should be
My only hope for them is that the worm will turn. I guess while they are touting their superior morality, they never heard the words of a guy called Jesus:

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." (Matthew 7:12 KJV)

"Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven (Luke 6:37-38 KJV)

"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." (Matthew 5:14-15 KJV)

24. The difference between us and freepers
If you search freerepublic for Democratic Underground, you won't find a lot. That's because they have a ban on mentioning DU there! I don't know what it's all about, but it's mentioned in the few posts that you can find on a search for DU.

That's one difference between us and them - can you imagine a DU rule that no one was allowed to mention the existence of FR? I've been banned from their twice, and gave up. The first time I posted something about how if you look at the Forbes 400 richest Americans, half of them inherited ALL of their money. There were a bunch of responses and then the thread was killed and I was banned. The second time I don't even remember what I posted...immediately different people started posting ZOT! ZOT! ZOT! and whatever I said went down the memory hole pretty quickly.

Look at the huge amounts spent on farm subsidies. Another words, you are paying farmers not to grow food so that when you go to the grocerie store, most of your products are falsely inflated, so you spend even more.

And what about the billions upon billions spent on corporate welfare. Or sweet heart pentagon contracts.

Compared to these fat cats, welfare is not even significant enough to mention.

31. Clueless Morons
My sister used to be on food stamps, after her no account husband left her with 3 small children.

Food stamps don't cover everything; they cover FOOD.

Need toothpaste? Pay cash. Toilet paper? Pay cash. Shampoo? Cash. Dish soap? Cash. Shoe laces? Batteries for the smoke detector? Laundry detergent? Cash.Cash.Cash.

So one of the obvious strategies food stamp recipients use is to go shopping with a friend or family member, and swap items. She would purchase my food items using her stamps while I bought her goods that were not covered with cash. Then we'd swap.

That's the sort of things people on assistance do to get by. But some moron sticking their nose in where it doesn't belong would see steak, ice cream and other luxury items and jump to the sort of stupid conclusion that these freepers do.

is an amazing creation that combines (get this) pre-cooked chicken breast mixed with stir fried vegetables in a BAG! Just heat and eat. Obviously a gourmet freeper meal. In college, my friends and I would buy a bag of this shit, cook it, and then eat the left overs for lunch. Very costly too, at about $4.99 a bag! /sarcasm

On edit: I think it's been discontinued. Here's a picture though:

43. Why shouldn't they be able to get a few good items?
It is their choice if they buy a steak instead of three packs of hot dogs. Perhpas, they might have a favorite higher priced cereal or want some fresh vegtables every once in a while. If food stamps are their food budget, yes they need to be careful of how much they spend on higher priced items to feed their family. Why is it a crime though if a poor person gets to eat something other than the whatever is cheap?

45. It pisses conservatives off
because they equate money and possessions with wealth. If you are poor, you shouldn't be able to have anything nice, even a good meal.

The idea of a poor person having a nice TV boggles their minds, because they have the same model television. And if a poor person has the same TV as them, how can they be sure that they are better than the poor person?

This is why these jerkoffs are so gung ho about the fascism that is slowly setting in. The appeal of fascism is that there is always someone below you. In Germany, it was the Jews. No matter how poor a German was, he could be confident that he was better than the Jews, and could treat them like shit.

FReepers love fascism as long as it promotes thier agenda.

The horridly ironic thing is, I am pretty sure that most of those FReepers weren't benifited by anything Bush has done (he might have thrown them $300 in a tax cut, but thats it). But he has bought them off successfully.
