Perhaps O'Reilly Is Wrong
In a May 17 radio broadcast, telephilosopher Bill O'Reilly fantasized unpleasantly that terrorists might "grab" the Los Angeles Times editorial and opinion editor "out of his little house and … cut his head off." O'Reilly went on, "And maybe when the blade sinks in, he'll go, 'Perhaps O'Reilly was right.' "

2. So, conversely, when O'Reilly is right, the terrorists win?

5. Here's the line for ol' felafel-head:
"O'Reilly should be careful. Any further decapitation fantasies could get him in serious trouble with the Secret Service."

11. any types like O'Lielly will never get this (below)

...Contrary to the impression you might get by following the story in the U.S. media, the riots were not about the journalists' use of anonymous sources. They were about perceived American contempt for the faith, the culture and ultimately the lives of Muslim Arabs and other dark-skinned people in distant lands.......

8. In a sane world, O'Reilley would have been shown the door so fast...
Edited on Tue May-24-05 11:02 AM by JHB
...he'd have skid marks on his butt. He's airing decapitation fantasies?!? (and more generally, vicious "I want my enemies to grovel before me" fantasies.)

I'd ask what happened to standards of professionalism on television, but AI already know the answer...

9. the more I hear from those neocons
the more I'm coming to genuinely believe that their issues go far beyond mere character flaw and into the realm of criminal psychopathy.

There are a couple of things you can always be sure of with a neo-con:

1. they're obsessed with finding a loophole, with literal interpretations of wordings and the perfectly executed "gotcha's"

2. they push every boundary they can, and if they think they're going to break a law, they try to change it first so they can claim no laws were broken.

3. they are the ugly fourth grader, all grown up.

If I had known O'Reilly on the playground, he almost certainly would have been the snivelling reverse bully, you know the kind, would run up and steal someone's lunchbox or poke and bitchslap some kid until finally somebody struck back, then would run off and get the playground monitor and play the poor pitiful victim.

I imagine if some fundie whacko or republican terrorist grabbed O'Reilly out of his little sound stage and cut his head off right on camera because he'd given them such a splendid idea, he would most certainly claim it was someone else's fault. Wah wah wah.

10. "O'Reilly should be careful."--HEY BILLY LISTEN UP!!

.........But to O'Reilly, "That's like saying, 'Well, if we're nicer to the people who want to KILL US, then the other people who want to KILL US will like us more.' "

Where did The Times' editorial page get the idea that winning the war on terrorism depends on persuading societies that breed terrorists that they should like us and adopt our values? Actually, this is not some wooly left-wing notion concocted over a joint during a lesbian wedding reception in Santa Monica. It is the cornerstone of the George Bush presidency, according to Bush himself.

In his State of the Union address in January, for instance, Bush said, "In the long term, the peace we seek will only be achieved by eliminating the conditions that feed radicalism and ideologies of murder. If whole regions of the world remain in despair and grow in hatred, they will be the recruiting grounds for terror, and that terror will stalk America…."

O'Reilly should be careful. Any further decapitation fantasies could get him in serious trouble with the Secret Service.

12. I think I love you
:loveya:

truly masterful prose:

"Actually, this is not some wooly left-wing notion concocted over a joint during a lesbian wedding reception in Santa Monica"

I shall have to borrow it for future confrontational speaking, with your permission of course.

If ever I find myself on the verge of death with just seconds of thought left. Clearly my thoughts will center on Bill O'Lielly's ego.
