1. What's the official total now? 1644 or are those 8 not counted yet?

2. I'm not sure what the total is
And we really have no idea how many Iraqis have died either.

Has to be thousands and thousands.

They're counted. It's 1644 including the 13 since Sunday (5 Sunday, 4 Monday, and 4 Tuesday).

I was, in fact, supporting your sentiment by noting - offhandedly - how often such errors and falsities are spread here as well as the general Internet. Not that I necessarily ascribe a malicious motive to the poster who got the number wrong.

BTW - Did'ya intend the pun in your subject line?

For publishing those pics. "Some people say" the Sun, The Post, and FOX "News" are the roots of this evil insurgency. I wish Scott McClellan would give them instructions about how to rectify this situation like he did with Newsweek.

So I'd expect that there a lot more than 17.

The site doesn't have a detailed list of wounded.

If the false statements on this thread are the standard, then I guess I am the expert, if expertise means knowing more than the standard.

I don't.

Nor is their list of wounded as detailed as their list of dead (hence the qualifier "detailed"). Unless I am misinterpreting your detailed response consisting of ellipses and a site incorrectly, I'll stand by it.

Edited on Tue May-24-05 05:47 PM by alcibiades_mystery
You say it does. I say it doesn't. It would be very easy for you to prove that it does. Link to the page. Your repeated refusal to do so only makes my claim stronger. No doubt you'll have some other smart quip in response. What I don't expect is a link to a detailed account of the wounded from May 19-May 24, primarily because NONE exists at icasualties.org. So, link or don't link. It's very simple. A link to that information will prove me wrong. No link will prove you wrong. I'll be waiting.

40. What you posted is a list of the dead
Let's review the conversation.

1) You say "17 casualties for the time period"

2) I say "Casualties = dead + wounded, so there are certainly more than 17." I of course assume that the information in icasulaties is the DEAD, since I know the site

3) You say "Just going from the site" which is a non-response, but I guess I should have taken it as "You're right, alcibiades_mystery! I am only counting the dead here, and not the wounded, so there must be more than 17 CASUALTIES, since experience dictates that if 17 soldiers have been killed since Friday, it stands to reason that many have also been wounded. However, we don't have that information, since icasulaties.org does not have a detailed list of wounded from May 19-May 24." I guess that's what I should have read from your response, rather than some ridiculous snark about being the resident expert.:eyes:

4) An extensive back and forth in which I ask you for information on the wounded, and you refer me to the site in general, refusing to point me to a specific place where the WOUNDED (not the dead, now, according to #2 above) are listed.

5) Your previous post here, in which you declare that the information was cut and pasted directly from icasulaties.org. Thanks. I got that when I read the initial post. But that information does not contain information about the WOUNDED, as I already said (see #2 and #4).

The sad part is, this whole exchange seems to be based on your misunderstanding of the word "casualty."

Edited on Tue May-24-05 01:53 PM by catmandu57
That it's easy to get lost in what's going on. All we know for sure is we're stuck inside a waking nightmare, death and destruction happening daily.
The only consolation is that a year ago a thread like this would die a fast death and sink into the archives, at least there are more people paying attention.
