Mrs Bush on Arab children's show

US First Lady Laura Bush stepped into both politics and children's television during a visit to Egypt.

She commended Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on taking what she said was an important first step towards reform.

She also took part in the Arab equivalent of the US children's show Sesame Street, Alam Simsim.

Mrs Bush was on the latest leg of a tour of the Middle East, during which she was heckled in Jerusalem by both Israeli Jews and Arabs.

2. My kids had tapes of the Shalom Sesame shows

which was the US/Israel tapes. They were actually pretty good and geared to older kids than the Sesame Street shows. If the Arab ones are like this, this is a really good thing for her to do.

It really is good that they see the Bush family as human. I dislike Bush intensely, but this might be more useful than the other things that she has done. (Of course, not attacking countries and occupying them would go further.)
