Graph of US Soldier deaths in Iraq to-date
I took the data from http://www.icasualties.org and plotted it over time.

1. My, isn't that a nice straight tidy line indeed? Rove would be so proud!
Cool graph, Roland! Kicked and nominated!
It doesn't quite show the sort of info I expected; quite the opposite, rather than a constantly increasing arc, it indicates a very steady and consistent harvesting of human life... quite interesting to see in this form, though...

2. Seems to be slightly higher angle ever since about 4/04 (Najaf), though.

3. So assuming this trend holds, we'll hit 2000 dead US troops
at the end of October or the beginning of November (let's hope we don't hit it at all). I wonder if it will arouse the same interest that 1000 did.

This is based on fitting the data to a linear trend, which may not be the best model.

4. A lot depends on that Iraqi security training
And we all know how effective that's been.

5. Here's the Same Data in a Noncumulative Graph

As you can see, the trendline is rising.

Ok...I tried to dupe that and got pretty close. I think I chopped a few entries but it's pretty close.

7. Way more useful than the total over time.
Can see the peaks and valleys.

Do they have one with a time line of events correlated
to this graph. That'd be *really* interesting.

9. Without having to even look it up the 2 highest peaks happened during
1st and 2nd Fallujah assaults. Bastards.

Thanks for the graphs.

10. Thank you. And, MNA Day 4 is just 8 deaths away.
Peace.

www.missionnotaccomplished.us - Be it MNA Day 4 or 8 or 15 or .... the day will come when 10s of millions of "Americans" and others stop their typical activities for 24 hours and urge 10 times that many to join should another MNA Day be required. On that glorious day what we once called "America" will emerge.

13. Some interesting quotes from Gen. Richard Myers
Edited on Tue May-24-05 05:53 PM by Roland99
Death Aplenty in Iraq
http://www.conjur.com/blog/2005/05/24/death-aplenty-in-iraq/

Fourteen U.S. soldiers have been killed since Sunday, 9 in the last 24 hours.

Let’s harken back in time, shall we?

September 11, 2003
Gen. Richard Myers
http://www.dtic.mil/jcs/chairman/Early_Show091103.htm

Despite what you read in the papers, things in Iraq are going quite well. We’re winning there. We’re winning the battle of terrorism there, and I think we’re winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people.

“Winning”, Gen. Myers?

http://icasualties.org/oif/
Nov. 2003 saw 82 U.S. soldiers and 27 “coalition forces” lose their lives. The worst monthly death toll up until then.

April 29, 2005
Gen. Richard Myers
http://prorev.com/2005/04/orwell-award-joint-chiefs-chair-says.htm

“I’m going to say this: I think we are winning, okay. I think we’re definitely winning. I think we’ve been winning for some time,” Myers told reporters.

“Winning”, Gen. Myers?

http://www.680news.com/news/international/article.jsp?content=w052406A
At least 615 people, including 49 U.S. troops, have been killed since April 28, when Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari announced his new Shiite-dominated government. Washington hopes his government will eventually train police and an army capable of securing Iraq and allowing the withdrawal of coalition troops.
