2. I also heard him say....
something about the "false accusations" said about Bush's nominees. What is false about some of their rulings?

8. That it doesn't solve this "problem"
Which isn't really a problem, just a Constitutional and procedural mechanism used in the Senate for decades.

All that this does is postpone the nuclear option until the fight over O'Connor's replacement is raging. And the republicans WILL use it then, despite all the protestations to the contrary today. So this compromise doesn't solve anything, just postpones the showdown.

9. He's absolutely right
The current Senate is lead by an unscrupulous man. One who doesn't feel bound by Senate rules. It is just a matter of time until this comes to a head again. Frist, or someone like him, with an equally unscrupulous presiding officer(currently Cheney) will decide the minority has no rights they are bound to respect.
It may come sooner rather than later. Chimpie can turn all his resources on the seven repukes. Dobson, Robertson, Fallwell, Bauer, etc will be more than glad to help.
This is just a temporary cease fire.

10. Is a temporary cease fire preferable to a rout?

13. Not Once Did DeLay's Lip's Move
Cornyn looked like he's ready to cry. Frist look whipped earlier. Sessions looked like the dottering fool he always has been. They're scrambling and this makes for entertaining television

The knives appear to be out...the fundies wanted a showdown...armageddon, and they didn't get it. Their party got crashed by some heathen Repugnicans and we should sit back and have a friendly barb or "someone said" or "if I were a Repugnican" handy to help in keeping the Repugnican infighting going for as long as possible.

Frist couldn't "DeLay" the Senate and this regime came out not being able to ram a Supreme Court nominee through at 51%. The far right still wants their fight. This is personal and there's a lot of money riding on who comes out as the far right winner. I'm getting more popcorn  Days like these are rare.
