This "deal" in Mccain's office is a threat to Frist's leadership
Frist is short on leadership experience and has not much to his credit since taking Trent Lott's job in a WH-engineered Senatorial coup. Mccain is telegenic and not a complete moron--in contrast with Frist--and has stolen Frist's light. Frist is now under pressure to simultaneously advance a right wing agenda and not lose in the 2006 elections while saddled to the worst president in history.

1. I think you've got it nailed, BorealAvenger.
THE CAT BUTCHER is going to have to come up with some fancy footwork.

2. And does anybody think Frist is savvy enough
to figure out said fancy footwork?

Of course, he does have Karl to advise him....

3. Hi, Lindsay. I think you're right -- Frist doesn't seem to have that --
-- knack at all. Rove can help, but it looks this time like Rove underestimated McCain and Byrd and the others.

What a strange day yesterday was.

4. Bingo. Frist's presidential aspirations just
blew up on the launch pad.

McCain's prospects got brighter (and without capitulating to the Talibaptists).

Dobson, Robertson, et al lost influence.

It was a victory -- a small one, but a victory nonetheless. The battle is far from over.

6. Dr. Frist just needs to retire on his family's abortion earnings
and never be heard from again.

8. They own
the machines. Until that changes, why should '06 be any different from '00, '02 or '04...(or all the way back to '94 for that matter...).
