Based on what Im hearing and reading here, FRIST HAD A MISERABLE
night's sleep

Frankly I hope it was filled with nightmares and constantly interrupted by angry phone calls from those he sold his soul to

2. I can only hope...
but these people seem to keep supporting and supporting and supporting even though they never really get what they want.

4. They never really get what they want?
Edited on Tue May-24-05 09:38 AM by fishwax
they do have the white house, the house, the senate, and the supreme court. This compromise may not be a total win for them, but overall they get far too much of what they want. But no matter how much they get, they will remain angry and persecuted b/c thus far it's been a fairly successful strategy.

on edit: welcome to DU from a fellow Okie :hi:

7. They have
gotten all those things. But, it isn't the fanatical, RW religious who are getting what they want. It is the Corporate-ists that are winning. The RW haven't gotten Roe v. Wade overturned. They haven't gotten school prayer. They haven't gotten Creation taught (except for Kansas). They haven't gotten the Ten Commandments. The Corporate arm of the Repubs will not deliver on those issues because they want to keep using them to keep the base riled. That's what I meant about they haven't gotten what they really want. Of course, it all depends on the "they" you mean, doesn't it?

Thanks for the welcome! And, glad to see more Okies here (haven't seen much activity in the OK forum, so I wasn't sure how many of us were here).

:hi:

9. You make good points
I still think they've gotten too much, though, with increased restrictions on reproductive rights, proliferation of "protecting marriage" legislation, bush's stem cell rulings, and now the judges, to name just a few. But you're right, the corporate wing does hold a number of carrots out of reach. Of course, the self-appointed leaders of the religious wing--robertson, falwell, et al--are quite cozy with the corporate wing too. I think most rank and file self-described conservative christians aren't aware the degree to which that's true.

The OK forum can be kind of slow moving sometimes, but rest assured there are a few more Okies hanging around the other forums :)

8. I'll bet Bush is steaming too. It almost makes this "deal" worthwhile.
It's so much fun watching all of these freeps and neo-cons crying.
