We haven't lost yet
Watching the news last night and I see them talking about how the 3 judicial nominees will get an up or down vote AND they will be confirmed.

What?!

We filibustered these idiots for a reason, now let's show America that these people are not worthy of being confirmed.

2. There will still be votes on each
and cases against them still can be made. The Republicans did not have enough votes to go nuclear, otherwise Frist would have pushed that button today. There may be some votes on the other side to defeat at least one of these nominees. Chances might be slim, but it ain't over 'til it's over.

3. These are the three worst
possible judges. They were the three main reasons the democrats should have continued the fight. There is no evidence that democratic senators have the political will to fight their being put on the bench. There is no evidence that republican senators have the moral capacity to oppose their being confirmed. I view the "compromise" as one of the worst things that has happened in the past decade. Our judicial system has been dealt a serious blow.

4. H2O is right. Now Owens is as good as confirmed for the bench
which is what Frist & the Reublicans wanted all along.

Frist did not have the votes for his so called Nuclear Option or he would have done it a lot sooner.

Now, you will really see a right wing court.

Abortion is their next issue which is why you can see the Supreme Court is to take it up believe around October.

9. They will not overturn
Roe per say. However, they will continue to chip away at women's ability to access abortion based upon their own decisions. I say this because the extreme religious right is primarily concerned about their own type. And the less religiously fanatic far right will want to continue to support anything that lowers the birth rates of those groups they consider "undesirable."

What we will see occure at a rapid pace is the denying the average individual access to those protections previously enjoyed by the Bill of Rights; corporations will enjoy greater protections as far as not having to follow environmental regulations, or to be responsible for the devastation of their disposal of toxic wastes on communities; and will do away with FOI and other progressive laws that enriched citizen participation in the democratric process.

10. The Dems need to talk about the case...
where owens ruled AGAINST a woman that was raped by a vacuum salesman, that was employed by a company that did not do a background check. Talk about that to the American people, and her ties to enron, and whether she wins or not, it will be a stain on the rethugs.

5. Agree, we've been hosed
But I've been told I'm just immature, a whiner, a fool, etc tonight on this board. I hope I really am an old simpleton and I may be. But for the life of me I can't see how this is a good thing.

13. Hang in there Acmejack. It takes people such as yourself to
keep a party on the right track. I sure as hell hope that we don't go to extreme of no criticism, everything is wonderful. You know, the way the Bush Admin works.

8. I am not sure of that
There will come a time when the democrats are back in power. Should one of these judges try to rule outside the law there will be consequences.

My biggest fear was allowing the religious right to dictate in a fascist way what I can think, do or say. Frist and his false Christian friends need to have limits set and boundaries pushed upon them The bigger picture is I may not partake of many freedoms that we have in this country but they are there if I need them. I do not wish to have a simple minded few false Christians and Bush republicans try to dictate laws and rules to the rest of us.

They don't have to partake in anything they don't want to. I am very afraid these few are those spoken of in the bible where in the end times real Christians will be persecuted, sad that we are probably the people the bible is discussing and we are being persecuted by these idiots.

11. What consequences?
If one of these judges rules in a way that denies a citizen or group of citizens those rights that are outlined in the Bill of Rights, what might those consequences be?

12. Impeachment
Federal judges can not rule outside the law. For instance the majority in this country really are pro choice. There will be consequences. Judges are free to interpret the law but if they get too far away from reasonable they will be challenged.

14. The dickens, you say.
Please explain the Supreme Court's decision that placed candidate Bush into the White House. Explain what law it was based upon. And tell me which of the judges that ruled outside the law -- the majority -- were impeached?

15. H2O Man You are correct
We couldn't get anyone with any balls to look into this and make others pay attention.

This is just my opinion but people are slowly waking to the fact that their country is under attack from the inside. More than there were just 6 months ago. I may be wrong, but with the polls showing that most Americans are sick of congress and shrub, I am willing to bet it will only get harder for them to pass their sneaky agendas into law. 2006 is coming and we will be adding more Dem's to the congress. I think we have a chance and I am willing to keep looking for ways to set us right again.
