Supreme Court nominees?
Rumor has that that BushCo will push for Scalia as Chief SC when Renquest retires and another SC appointee will be forwarded. That won't be too long from now. Maybe in 6 months or less.

Possible nominees?

2. That would be really extraordinary, don't you think?

3. Bring Scalia on. Gives us a free bargaining chip.
The ultimate goal is preserving five sane votes on the court, preferably without one of those votes being Kennedy.

OK, you want Scalia, you give us a sane associate justice.

4. I don't think it will be Scalia.
He's not well-liked by his colleagues on the court. I think its gonna be Clarence Thomas, that will make the far-right happy - and it'll be a public relations coup for republicans who want to reach out to minorities.

Who is chose to replace Rehnquist is really just a guess at this point, but Ill go on the record for Ted Olsen. The only thing that makes him less likely is the fact that he's not a minority, which is what Bush would want (especially a Hispanic), but there's always the second pick for that.

5. Just look at the Federalist Society membership.
The nominee's name will be there.

Gonzales?
Ted Olson?
Lawrence Silberman?

Probably worse than those, even.
