1 in 6 women of childbearing age have too much mercury in their system
According to an article written by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

"We know that one out of every six American women of childbearing years now has so much mercury in her womb that her children are at risk for a grim inventory of diseases: cognitive impairment; mental retardation; autism; blindness; kidney, liver or heart disease. I have so much mercury in my body, I was told by Dr. David Carpenter, who is the national authority on mercury contamination, that if I were a woman of childbearing years and produced a child, that the child would have cognitive impairment, and, he estimated, a permanent IQ loss of five to seven points. There are 630,000 children born in this country every year who have been exposed to dangerous levels of mercury in the womb."

My wife and I are in our mid 20's and are going to start in a family in the next year or so. I won't start to think about it until she gets tested for the amount of mercury in her system.

Mercury gets into people's bodies through eating fish that get mercury from Coal power plants, dental amalgams, and childhood vaccinations. All of these are preventable, but the Bu$h administration just ignored an EPA study and supported lessening the mercury standards.

1. What a bunch of freaks. Don't bet on the neocons feeling anything
about this. The neocon elected in Ontario Canada for a good 5 years had an autistic son and still cut funding. He may not have noticed since in all his brilliance he was living with his fancy pants girlfriend in the poshiest condo in Toronto most of the time.

Ring any bells?

I think he found religion after his defeat. Went back to his family.

Still - it was jarring to see him up the testing and down the funding for all.

2. Questions about mercury...
So...can a doctor do a routine test that measures mercury levels?

What can the average person do to avoid high mercury levels? Avoid fish?

It makes sense that many parents see autism after vaccinations--if the shots contain mercury. The mercury in the shots may not be enough to cause autism alone. However, if there are increased levels of environmental mercury AND in the mothers from whom these children are born---it makes sense that the vaccinations would be a tipping point for many kids.

I don't get why Bush would want more mercury in our environment. We'll all suffer--even the Republicans.

Is he that much of a sadist? He wants more mercury just because it's bad for everyone and he can inflict harm that way?

WTF is going on?

3. Here is a link to get a test kit
http://www.waterkeeper.org/mainarticledetails.aspx?articleid=176

It costs $25 and you send a hair sample to the University of North Carolina to get tested.

Here is a DU link with a lot of information on Mercury. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=115x24258

Also check out Ring of Fire radio show on AAR who have talked about this a lot.

4. Here is the toxins forum at CureZone.com
http://curezone.com/forums/f.asp?f=168&t=196 You can do a search at the top of the page for mercury with a Google engine.

I believe that more mercury is released when chlorine is seperated from salt than from coal in electrical generation. Just think of all the chlorine used in this country.

Cilantro is something that gets a lot of credit for removing heavy metals at CureZone. It sells at Wal-Mart for sixty cents a bunch. It taste so different that it tasted bad the first time I ate it raw. Now I find the taste refreshingly different and will now use it on salad instead of lettuce. Coriander seeds come from Cilantro and just yesterday I read at CureZone they help chelate heavy metals from the body.

The best thing according to some is chlorella which is an algae. This is the Google results for chlorella at CureZone- http://tinyurl.com/6o4q3

Chlorophyll gets credit too. You can buy it at the health food store. Some people grow wheat grass in their house under grow lights and think it is the most wonderful thing. Then the barley people think barley is better than wheat. Wheat grass is just a sprouted seed before it grows roots and it would have chlorophyll as would barley. Here is Google for chlorophyll at CureZone.com- http://tinyurl.com/dek9x

Kombuncha tea gets credit for chelating by some, but you know, who really knows. But for me, I eat cilantro raw and have the seeds and a garden and have been to lazy to plant the seeds. I am going to start another culture of kombunch tea as soon as I get a starter. I really like the taste that comes from growing this fungus in black tea and sugar. It does help with ulcerous colitis in my experience. It gives your skin a tingle and it taste quite good.

6. False negatives are a problem...
... with hair and urine samples. However, the tests are quick, easy, non-invasive, and inexpensive and a valuable tool if you do find mercury. However, if you don't find mercury in the hair or urine, you still wouldn't know if there is mercury bound in your organs, unless you are tested with DMSA, which itself can be somewhat toxic to some people. It's important to find a doctor who is familiar with mercury testing. Most doctors are not trained in this area.
