3. It's true.
And the problem with never being wrong is that once the first crack appears, the whole facade starts to crumble. The problem with being perfect is when the first imperfection shows, the self definition dissolves. The emporer has no clothes.

4. They lost?
How much irreparable damage can those "judges" do?

Even when they lose, they win.

And can't Frist threaten to go nuclear again? And again? And again?

7. He can threaten.
He'll need some people to go back on their agreement, though, if the threat is to have any real teeth. ;)

Oh, and those judges aren't confirmed. They are going to be voted on. They'll probably win, but...you never know.

8. Frist was neutered by McCain and the other Senate Repubs
who stood with him tonight.

Put the Democratic Senators aside for a moment and just look at what happened to the Republicans in the Senate--they shoved Frist aside and sent a message to the White House about who they nominate to take Rehnquist's place.

5. I doubt that in 06
a single moderate Repug will survive the primaries.

6. Dream on. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.
Bush just got ALL his wacko judges approved. Not one will not get on the bench. There are no "moderates" among them, they are all wingnuts. So what exactly did Bush lose? Please explain that.

Are Democrats really this naive?????

9. Actually not quite
He has a chance of getting 3 approved, 2 are out. But it was not an agreement to put them through, just to vote on them, and even some republicans have doubts about a couple. The signers of the agreement agreed not to support it if the nuclear option comes again unless the dems abuse the filibuster they still have the right to under extreme circumstances (defined by 40 members agreeing it is extreme).

Frist and religious extremists have effectively lost control of the GOP--and I don't believe this is good news for RoachBoy DeLay, either. If moderate Repubs have decided that they can no longer gamble their future job security on the current GOP leadership, the compromise wasn't a total loss at all. I'm not completely happy about it, but I'm not completely miserable about it, either.
